What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Last night I about grenaded my rear end.. Pulled the cover to find missing teeth, and a bunch of metal shavings.. Picked up another 10 bolt LSd at a junkyard.... looks pretty good. Some wear on the teeth, but should last me another 50K+ I also picked up some sliders... The rear axle and the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Figured out why my M1010 was cranking so slow... The guy who is rebuilding it said it's probably dragging on the coils(?) too.... Also noticed the solenoid wire had been cut and soldered back together, and one of the mounts on the starter was crushed..Which tells me someone pulled the starter...

(WA) To 'Collector Vehicle' or not?

Says tabs aren't required, and says "A restored license plate is a Washington-issued license plate that was designed for use in the year of the vehicle’s manufacture." A strict view would mean that only from that year. A common sense rule would mean that it must use a plate series during that...

    surplus radio

.Gov doesn't mess around with Type 1 crypto. Had a guy on another forum YEARS ago try and ID a part # that wasn't listed anywhere. It wasn't listed because the part # was a restricted gov only item. Those of us who knew, told the guy it didn't exist *wink*, don't mess with it, burn it in the...

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

Each base is different..but generally..yes I used two L brackets. They're bolted together. I screwed one bracket to the firewall then measured and screwed the second bracket in...using self tapping screws. Then the other line bracket was bolted to the ones on the firewall. So it's now a U...

(WA) To 'Collector Vehicle' or not?

Hahah.... I'm not one for being pc. You have more experience in this arena than I do, hence why I was asking. I'll defer to your experience. Feel free to correct me. I'm still gonna try and slide one by them..heh... the plates are like 10 a pair...if I can swing it...the plates will be all but...

(WA) To 'Collector Vehicle' or not?

Yes. From what I understand..you're still issued collector plates..but it's noted on your registration that the other plates are optional.

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

It's all brass.... Also, it's only used for bleeding.. So it won't be used that often... I'm a big fan of 'go big or go home'... FYI - got it in....

(WA) To 'Collector Vehicle' or not?

Are they that smart to know the difference? Can I get a '62 plate (all green with white lettering) and put an '84 tab on it to look legit, instead of getting an '82-? Plate (all white, with green lettering) Are they actually gonna go look in the book and say that tag is too old? From what I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Replaced the GPs, crimped on new connectors, put in my spin on fuel filter assembly, bypassed the GP resistor, ran 4GA directly to the GP solenoid, then a 8ga jumper from the solenoid to the 12V feed, wired a relay to the electronic fuel pump I installed (relay switched by fuel shutoff solenoid...

(WA) To 'Collector Vehicle' or not?

Has anyone gotten 'restored' plates? They say I can use a plate for that model year, which means I know I can get an '84 plate, but what about the older all green plates that were still in use in the 80's?

    m1010 fuel line clarification

Thanks. The top one is indeed the larger one.. Got the electric fuel pump installed, and bled to the filter in about 10 seconds... [thumbzup]

(WA) To 'Collector Vehicle' or not?

I was planning on using it for my M1010, which is going to be a weekend vehicle/camping rig anyway, so I can surely justify it as a 'display' vehicle when I'm camping... Cheap tabs, don't need to be renewed, no front plate requirement... All huge bonuses.. Not gonna be used as a daily...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Got all my parts for spin on fuel filter (see Here) Couple days ago I soaked my pistons in MMO/ATF, to see if it could free a possible stuck piston ring (M1010 had been sitting for 6+ years, new batteries, and still really slow cranking)... Cranked it, let it sit some more... seemed to be...
