Well the 9.00-20s are being replaced with 395s asap on my truck. I was just wondering if this is a possible solution to the problem of wandering and return to center adding the big radials can cause. Guess I can go by a junk yard and grab some things and find out.
Haha you got me there hank. But you plan on putting something there. A lot of people slide the bed up to the cab but don't notch the support rib to clear the cab mount and parking brake. It leaves this 3 inch gap that nothing can be done with.
We went the other direction with our Bob job as far as bed spacing. We did like steve6x6 and notched the center support rib on the front of the bed to tuck that thing nice and tight to the cab. I think having a big gap between the cab and bed looks goofy.
Another thing to keep in mind is the 105 trailer will hold as much or more weight than a bobber depending on what rear suspension set up you use. If the 105 mounting setup can hold that weight it will be just fine mounted to the truck that way.
We are using the boards also. Hence the need to extend the brackets. If your using grade 8 hardware like we are then your not in much risk of breaking them. There are 6 mounting tabs. 2 large grade 8 bolts each. That beds not going anywhere. Plus when you load the bed it pushes the bed...
On a truck me and a buddy are currently bobbing we just extended the 105 mounting brackets with a piece of plate steel. Then we are just gonna drill 2 new holes in the plate and chassis and bolt them together. The 105 mounting brackets are the exact width of the deuce frame. The way we figured...
I have another problem all together. I wear a hat when I'm working on my or someone else's truck. It never fails I'm looking down at a part and walking and look up just I'm time to meet an open door face to door.....maybe I should start wearing my hat backwards.
I will be putting 395's on my truck within the next few months. From my research overall most people seem very happy with them. I realize this does change the gearing up a bit but this seems like it can be overcome by turning the fuel up a bit if you haven't already.
Nice truck and I hope...
I think 2 quarts was more than enough to do my truck. And that was after rebuilding the mc and replacing the air pack. Then I flushed each wheel cylinder until nice clean purple fluid came out. This was all done with my home made pressure bleeder.
I am not aware of any serial or vin# on the frame or chassis/cab other than what's on the data plate on the dash. I have an a2 and have been over and under and through every nook and cranny greasing and changing oil/ finding leaks. I haven't heard of anyone else finding a number there but I'm...
The a3 was built using 3 a2's to assemble 2 a3's from the best components with the new drive train and nose. The year is the contract date. Not always the year of construction. There's no telling when the frame was made.
And welcome to Steel Soldiers. I just noticed this was your first post. The best advice I can give is read read read. Almost anything you want to know about the trucks in question can be found in the forums and tech manuals. Information is your friend.
Well to start with both the a2 and a3 can run hydraulics. There are provisions for a PTO on both trucks transmissions. The a2 is a bit faster especially when upgraded to 46" tires. The a3 comes standard with 43" tires. The a3 can also be upgraded to 46" tires but will still be slower than...
I'm not sure what you mean by that. If I'm not mistaken most spray on bed liners are some form of polyurethane. As far as tactical uses....I don't know. I don't believe the military uses durabak but I guess they could. The manufacturer just happens to make it in od green and coyote tan. For...
Don't be scared of a commercial policy. Also find an insurance agent who deals with heavy trucks. For example I have a commercial liability policy through progressive. But not every progressive agent deals with commercial type trucks. And my premium is around 600 a year. I kinda went...
I was thinking something similar but instead of line-x I was going to go with a product called durabak. They make it in military colors and it gets excellent reviews. Line-x is an excellent product. If not the best on the market. I simply cannot afford to have an entire trucked sprayed with...
I see what you mean. I know some states have a process to get a title if the vehicle doesn't have one. In LA you can only apply for a lost title if you are the original owner. Otherwise your s.o.l. Now that I understand why there isn't a title "so to speak" it would more than likely not be a...
