The rubber strips along the front edge of my hood, where it touches the top of the grille, were dried up and crumbly. I couldn't find these parts in the surplus channels or through 'full service' dealers such as Memphis, so I made my own.

Sounds like the unloader is stuck... the small line from the governor to the compressor connects to the unloader on the compressor's head (or maybe it's on the side? I can't remember). The unloader isn't allowing the governor to shut the compressor off. Probably just needs to be cleaned.

Yeah, but I can hardly blame 'em... because of the baffles in the tank it's difficult to get lost parts out unless the tank is removed from the truck. I suppose you could go 'fishing' with a magnet...
My old rusty tank also had lots of old pump parts rolling around inside...

Why so short? What's the failure mode, mildew / rot from moisture or sun damage? I'm concerned that the desert sun here will destroy canvas quickly, but after a year mine still looks good. I have canvak, but I'm interested in any canvas preservation tips.
