The hinge halves are not meant to come apart. The hinge bolt is splined and a very tight press fit. If you try to remove it with a hammer you will destroy it. Ask me how I know! It will come apart, but you would need a hydraulic press for removal and reassembly. The hinge assembly is...
I believe the picture of the Shell station in San Francisco is a PhotoShopped fake. The photo is supposedly dated May 10, 2007, yet Yahoo! says the highest price for gas in San Francisco is $3.79 right now, which is what I would expect as gas in the Bay Area tends to cost $0.10 per gallon more...
If you raise the compression on an otherwise stock OA331, you would likely no longer be able to burn regular gas without the engine pinging... And if you fill it with premium, you will not see a big improvement in power with the stock carburetor and restrictive intake and exhaust. Tinkering...

Do you not like these pumps?
http://www.enginegearonline.com/gepu12or24vo1.html
I know they're rather pricey, but they're the best I've found so far. I contacted the manufacturer to make sure the pumps are not made in China crap, and they replied that they're made in Italy. It's the...
Very nice! That item ought to be a hot seller, as it seems that most winch trucks have bent up top plates - A sight which affects my eyes the same way fingernail-on-chalkboard screech affects my ears. I'll be needing a front winch for my V-18A/MTQ, which it's missing, and one of my concerns...
I got a few moments of that dreadful feeling when, after a stop light changed to green, I put the truck in gear and let out the clutch and - nothing. After a few seconds of panic and thoughts of big expensive tow trucks hooking themselves to my deuce and my wallet, I realized the transfer case...
On my truck, there was some silicone sealer around the outside of the seal retainer where it contacts the axle housing... I thought it was a good idea to help keep gear oil where it belongs so I put a little bead back on when I reassembled.

Yup... the clutch is in there, and that's why the drain needs to be open. If the bell housing were plugged and the rear seal leaked, it would fill the housing with oil and ruin the clutch. Most deuces seem to leak a bit from the rear seal, I wouldn't worry unless it was real bad.

I think the benefit is three-fold... faster oil pressure, better micron ratings and more convenience.
The oil pressure change is dramatic - It's not a 2-3 second improvement, it's 2-3 seconds to FULL PRESSURE, whereas it could take up to 15 seconds before. My deuce took 12 seconds, so for me...
Earlier trucks were to have the drain plug stored in the map compartment for installation before fording. At some point in production, the bell housing casting was changed to include a boss next to the drain hole where the plug could be screwed on for storage, leaving the drain open... My deuce...
Yeah, that's blow by. What can you do? Some blow by is normal. My truck has just a little wisp when hot. I certainly wouldn't overhaul your engine unless it started spraying oil. Heck, even then I'd probably just keep adding oil! Extend the breather tube down closer to the road by buying a...
A few other things that haven't been answered yet...
You can't easily change a sprag transfer case's internals to an air shift... There's more to it than swapping the gears in the output housing. It's been done by at least one member here but it was a lot of work and required complete...
I painted my transmission and transfer case with the same Gillespie paint (alkyd enamel) that the rest of the truck is painted in. Anything will work, as those parts don't get hot enough to burn off paint... Not normally, anyway!

Add your pics to the post in the order you want them to appear. When you preview the post they will appear backwards, but when you submit they will show up in the order you added them.

Why loop the fuel lines into one another when bypassing the FDC? Couldn't the tee pieces be unscrewed and plugs put in their place instead?...
I just think it would look cleaner to have the holes plugged than to see the fuel lines looped around like that.
Jon
A lot of cancer, indeed! I think I'd give that cab the old "heave-ho" ala BFR (as shown below) before I spent a week cutting and welding on it... However I'm interested in seeing your results and I'm jealous of your talent if you pull it off!
