When taking the plug out of aluminum, I have used a heat gun to warm the housing, which does no harm. The coefficient of thermal expansion for aluminum is high, much higher than for steel, so the hole will expand. While the housing is warm, place a small amount of dry ice in the plug. This...
I would recommend the following.
1. Demand to see a copy of the legislation where this is now required. Alabama has been notoriously free of harrassing rules compared to some states.
2. If indeed this is true, contact your state Senator and Representative by telephone and ask for...
I have been sanding brake shoes as above for many years after cleaning and have gotten very good results. I have never done this on a Deuce, but I would expect similar results. If you have asbestos lining, don't breath the dust!
As mentioned above, running a multi, or any diesel for that matter, at low speed and excessive idling will cause wet-stacking. The engine is running too cold due to low loading. The cure is to run it faster for several miles, or under increased loading, so that it is running hotter...
Your photos show what appears to be a very nice looking truck. The front hubs are for self-recovery. The only worry I would have is the sprague. They work well if the truck is driven properly, but can be a problem. I would convert to air shift if possible, but the sprague is original.
From another thread, I understand that the rivets needed for installing the cab reinforcement plate are:
55-1/4" Blind rivets NAS1398C8-5 Grip Range(Thickness of Materials) .251-.312"
40-1/4" Blind Rivets NAS1398C8-3 Grip range(thickness of materials) .126-.187"
Are these the correct...
I would recommend changing all fuel filters before trying anything else. Make sure the in-tank fuel pump is working when bleeding air out of the vent. I suspect you are starving the engine for fuel due to clogged filters.
deltadog3208,
I see that you now have the proper link. Let me know if you need anything. I still haven't gotten mine to run. I can't get any fuel from the IP. I have a mechanical problem with the pump, but I haven't pulled it yet. You have probably found that the original fuel filter has...
If you do decided to go with headsets, consider the purchase of a small and cheap portable intercom system for aircraft, already set up for 24V. With noice-cancelling headphones, you not only get rid of the noise, but you and your passenger can also talk to each other without disturbance. I...
It depends on your battery charger as to whether you need to remove the connection between the batteries. If the two sets of leads from the charger are wired in parallel inside the charger, you will have the situation of a 24V connection across the 12V charger. However, if the two charging...
I feel like the MV version of CSI now. I got out an ultraviolet light and shined it on the front bumper. Lo and behold, on the left front side was clearly printed 28 I - 103E, just like I thought it should read. 28th Infantry Division, 103rd Engineer Battalion. The right side now clearly...
Today, I decided to try to remove some of the paint covering the bumper markings on my M35A2. I already knew it came from the 103rd Engineer Battalion from the information CARNAC provided. The bumper markings were covered by black spray paint. After removing some of the paint on the front...
I agree. It looks like the truck is set up for ether start. You can see what looks like the bracket. If everything is there, you most likely just need to add a can of ether. These are readily available. The ether start controls should be on the lower portion of the dash panel, just left of...
