I have previewed many MEP-003A and MEP-002A gensets. at several locations. Be very careful when you see low hours and especially zero hours on the Hobbs. Many of the gensets with zero or low hours obviously had many more hours on them based on poor condition. I've also seen handwritten notes...
There are a lot of threads on oil for the deuce if you go to Search. I run John Deere +50 in my deuce as well as my two tractors and I find it works well, even in cold weather.
I have a 1968 Johnson M105A2 with the single air line. The brake system is simple, and the trailer works well. I pull it behind my deuce, and occasionally behind my Ford pickup. The M105A2 is the best pulling trailer I have ever pulled.
I'm probably going to wait 2 -3 weeks, until the weather warms up here. I have power supplies and test equipment, so that won't be a problem. I'm still in the process of wiring up the transfer switch and running the conduit to where the genset will be stationed. The 400-amp 4-pole manual...
I would recommend bidding on another GL deuce - one that appears to be in good condition. Sell your old deuce as a parts truck, or part it out yourself, to offset the cost of the new deuce. If you have the room and inclination, parting out the old deuce may actually give you a profit on the...
Just because the parking brake appears to be working fine, doesn't mean there isn't a broken spring causing the parking brake to hang up while backing up. I would recommend checking out the parking brake before you go any further. It is relatively easy to check out the parking brake. if it is...
Well, I now have more information. I started the genset today and again zero output. I manually flashed and again no output. I flashed it five more times and got output, but high voltage. The lowest I can adjust the voltage now is 136 - 138 / 272 - 276 VAC. The voltage continuously...
I'll try manually flashing the genset tomorrow morning and see what happens. One interesting fact, which I didn't mention, is that everytime I have started it in the past the gauges showed zero output for about 5 seconds and then the output started. I don't know if this is normal or not or was...
A friend came by today and wanted to see my MEP-003A run as he is considering buying one himself. It was approximately 19 deg F outside and he was also concerned about starting one in the cold weather. After pre-heating the glow plugs, the genset fired right up, no problems starting in the...
Using a chain through the lift is absolutely the way to go. There is minimal chance of damage to the genset and truck or trailer. And don't forget to tie it down securely. That's a lot of weight if it gets loose.
This sounds like you might be better off with the entire slave cable. You could then slave between your MEP026C, either of your ORD/28s, and/or your 24 VDC battery pack. You would need to buy a slave cable receptacle for a few dollars and wire it permanently to the 24 VDC battery pack. I'm...
You can also get the whole slave cable. They are fairly plentiful and you can also find them on E-bay. What are you using for a power source? If you have an MV, you can plug the slave cable directly in and you are in business.
You may want to check out pin and sleeve connectors made by SCAME. I purchased a 100-amp pin and sleeve connector assembly from elecDirect.com for a really good price. Their phone number is 800-701-0975.
