Thanks for the replys. I was wondering if there was a kit to make a full floater or better yet if parts off a front axle could be used or whatever and hit the u-pullit yards.
I would like to tow my 1009 behind my camper and not have to re-install the driveline. I have disconnected that...
I need an OEM bracket too. I should get one on there before I break another bolt. I know I'm down the list but if someone has an extra please let me know.
Thanks,
Greg
I read somewhere here that when one plug fails it puts more stress on the rest to where they all fail like dominoes fall. I was thinking that keeping them all working was the way to go. I have bought a new set but didn't want to waste a good plug.
Thanks
Are all 24V glow plugs the same for the CUCV? Can brands be mixed? The reason I ask is upon checking each plug for continuity I come up with different values for different brand plugs. If the plug is burned out my meter reads nothing, showing no electricity passing thru the plug. Some show 3.0...
No hills, no emergency stops. Keep it very slow. But 1 1/2 hour trip at what speed? I'd advise getting a better tow vehicle. I've done it before and never again.
I like the looks of a bobbed deuce. Everyone has their own personal tastes and I like a shortened deuce bed better than a trailer bed. My belief is if you don't have anything good or helpful to say you shouldn't say anything. I can see no harm in bobbing a deuce, only fun.
Ditto what Maritimer said. There doesn't seem like there would be enough downward force to pull those threads out of your block from your starter but plenty of force to break them off up in the hole. I suppose anything could happen, but I've had the last 1/2" of the bolt break off in there.
Greg
I'd like to add make sure your tow vehicle is heavy enough. If your box is empty on the F250 I'd keep it under 45mph. I just towed a M1028 with a F450 and med tow bar last week. It towed perfectly. Make sure your steering is unlocked in the m1028 too.
He put it on craigslist to sell, the rest is BS. He would be surprised if it sold because its really not worth $7500. I believe he started out asking $5500 and couldn't get that so he raised the price. He will probably end up wishing he took that 4k, IMHO. The condesending tone of that article...
I'm only speculating but I don't think there likely will be lot sales like we are used to, but contracts that run for 6 mo. or a year on stuff like clothing, electronics etc.
Sounds to me like there is going to be bidding on contracts like they do with tires and scrap metal. I know the contractors get all kinds of stuff now that never gets to the public bidding. They scrap it. Can't imagine them hauling gloves, computer screens, oil filters etc half way across the...
If you want a military vehicle for delivering pizzas, the M1009 blazer is a much better choice than the M1008 or M1028 pickups. They get better mpg, better on tires, turn shorter etc. but don't plan on towing one with the other. I highly recommend against it. Also don't count on it being in...
Is this a mlitary part or something modified. I see them mentioned alot here and my starter broke one of its bolts off recently. Where is the best place to get them?
Thanks,
Greg
Thanks for the response Tim, but short of removing the crank it doesn't appear I can get it out. I used some plastic cord, the heaviest cord used on weedeaters, and pushing with a pliers as hard as I can, it won't budge. Tomorrow I'll look at trying to pound a short piece of cord with a hammer...
Well, I pulled the bearing cap and there was no seal in it, but there is a seal up in the block and so far I haven't been able to remove it. Has anyone just replaced the bottom bearing cap half with success as far as leakage is concerned? I'm afraid I might have to try that.
Thanks
The rear main is leaking badly in my M1009. What do you retorque those rear cap bolts to? Does the oil pickup get removed or can you work around it? I forgot what it looks like in there. I've got to do this before the rain starts.
Thanks,
Greg
