I'm looking for a steering part for this electric crane. Maybe I've posted this in the wrong place. It was built probably a little before WWII for the USAF. I'll try Yale but I don't expect anything available for it. I think my best bet would be to find a machine being parted, one no longer in...
From what I can see in the dark with a flashlight those 2 - 3/4" holes are used for the motor mount on my truck. Maybe your motor mount is different from my truck.
Greg
I went and ordered the 4309 and 3418. The 4309 is flowing the wrong way to put it in the stock location. Putting it on the engine turns it around and solves the flow direction problem. I don't know if my lines are long enough to reach that location. I'll have to check. Greg
I made the mistake of thinking I could find the pinhole in the canister but I can't. I should have marked it before I took it off but I could only see about where it was leaking not exactly where. Thats why I thought I'd go with the setup from Napa. Cut the bracket, and mount it down like Kenny...
About the leak, that would make it hard to start. There always was a drip of fuel hanging from the filter. But since the tank pump wasn't working (unknown to me)it only leaked when I stopped the engine. Now it leaks a steady stream. I first thought it was the petcock, but I put a new one in...
Thanks Guys for all the advice. The second pump that had the wires corroded off did have continuity so I exchanged it with the original bad one and the truck srarted up with just 10 seconds of rough idling. Moved it off the road, what a relief! With the added pressure I now have a leak. Its a...
Devilman, that is good news, thanks. I'm going to check out Napa as soon as they open. I don't believe the pump ever was running as long as I've had this truck. I've put about 4-5K on it. I've never heard or felt anything from that pump. I'm wondering if I fill the fuel tank to the max if the IP...
Checked the fuse and its good. My tester I think is bad, bulb may be burnt. Would you be able to feel or hear the pump run if it is working? This is bad luck, drove all day pulling a trailer with about 7 tons of machinery on it and quits 8 feet from home. Make that 10' cause I'm blocking over...
I saw that cover but there seems to be no power in the plug that goes to it. I put a tester on it and couldn't get a light with the accessory switch on. If I fill the tank back up do you think the IP will be able to pull fuel to itself cause if the wiring to the fuel pump is bad I'm in trouble...
My Deuce is parked on the street in front of my house right now. Just got home and the fuel was very low. I killed the engine and it won't start. Added about 7 gallons and still won't start. Checked the pump on the tank and its not running and it doesn't seen to have any power to it. Is there a...
Thanks for all the advice. Unfortunately I can't change the rear main seal without pulling the engine. The flywheel was tapped for puller bolts so the removal went easy but it sure was heavy. My concern is with the 6 pins that go along with the 6 bolts that attach the flywheel to the crank. What...
RE: Update on noise?
I haven't been able to get the time needed to fix the clutch yet. I don't think the clutch is the source of the noise but I hope it was. The noises sure did seen to come from the valve train. When I first posted this question I had no idea what was wrong with the clutch...
Got the clutck out and found the problem. The pilot bearing had disintegrated and the rollers, & pieces of the race have ground up between the flywheel and disc. The only thing left of the bearing was about 3/4 of the outer race, everything else was ground up except about 6 or7 rollers which...
Hey Ron, I went to Napa. 5380 for a dummy input shaft didn't work. Is there another #? They said they have a universal tool but its over twice the cost. Thanks, Greg
I haven't looked at the drainback holes yet but I did change the oil to delo 400 15-40W. I did that before I got it running cause I could smell gas in the oil. Replaced the fuel pump too. I did pull the front valve cover because when I was adding oil back in, oil started running out from under...
I finally got back under the truck tonight. The driveline bolts all had the 1/2 inch shoulder except one which had no shoulder. So I don't know why they all were loose unless they never were tightened in the 1st place. There were only 3 bolts loose on the clutch and each had at least 1 tight...
Mine is doing it during and after warmup. I haven't run it very much at all and none lately since I'm working on the clutch. It seems like the valve train runs dry-gets oil-and repeats. Oil pressure is good on the gauge. I'm puzzled Thanks Steve for looking into this. Greg
The R6602 gas engine in my 5- ton has noise that sounds like the valve train isn't getting oil for 3-4 seconds then quiets for about the same time then gets noisy again. I'm going to pull the rear valve cover because the best I can tell, that is where it originates. Has anyone experienced this...
Thanks Guys for the heads up on those bolts. I was going to reuse them but that sounds like a mistake. I used an engine hoist threw the passenger door with 2 slings around the tranny. Then used a come-along to drag the front wheels on the hoist to pull the tranny back.
I was wondering if...
I think I'll tighten the bolts and try it out. I hope the clutch hasn't moved any and the trans will go back in easy. Maybe I should just hope it goes back in, cause something that big and heavy isn't going to be easy at least for me.
Greg
