RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: installing generator on M35A2
Thanks to these good ideas, I have figured out an easy way to tap the tank for the generator. It's posted here in the fuel tank tapping thread:

Thanks to the great advice so far, I think I figured this out so that I can:
1. tap the fuel tank at a level above the pump so as not to run the tank dry
2. provide a fuel return for the genset
3. avoid using the truck's pump outlet (concerns with it forcing fuel into the generator when the...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: installing generator on M35A2
I've got some sheetmetal and such for the splash shields and a large panel off the side of an electronics rack for a side cover that will hinge up and lock down.
I had this and it was brakes which were adjusted too tight when the wheel was put back on. The temp was 167 degrees coming off the highway as measured witha DVM and thermocouple probe.
RE: Re: Clark
The first few I got from Memphis in 2002 didn't last very long. The new outer ones as well as the outer ones from TNJ Murray looked like they had a taller lip on them facing the bearings where the rubber seals against the hub.
I was treated very kindly and given a nice tour of the facilities. They are good people and I would buy from them any time. If I had the $ I'd order up one of their 5 tons with the big tires!
Blowing a head gasket comes to mind.. I'd do some real deep research before I started messing with it. Are the heads individual cylinders or groups of 2 or 3?
The electric fuel pump for fuel transfer seems like a good idea.. seeing I am lazy it would beat holding the can and pouring.. I have a holley electric fuel pump made for a hot rod. I suppose it would not care if the fuel were diesel. Going throught the drain plug would keep the generator's...
RE: Re: RE: installing generator on M35A2
Thanks! That looks like it will work. What did you do about the metal shavings? wash out the tank? I guess a few would not harm the pump if they were small, but I would not want them getting into the fuel system.
What is the little 'nipple' looking...
RE: now thats a nice looking rim
The ditch witch wheel looks good as far as it goes. I didn't mean to imply by the drawings that I was asking for curved centers, flat is OK. My 2 cents were to not make it mandatory to flip the rear hubs.
RE: now thats a nice looking rim
If wishes were horses.. I would like a 10" wide one piece "tubeless" type with an offset that would permit a compromise so that they would not rub on the front for steering, and they could be run "concave" on the rears to sort of maintain the original appearance...
RE: installing generator on M35A2
Hey I just found a 30A 2-pole manual transfer switch as well. FREE!! in a pile of junk where the air conditioning parts were recently. I would prefer a fast-acting automatic, but since I have batteries for the radios and can do a UPS for the lights, manual is...
RE: installing generator on M35A2
I had thought to use a tee and tap off the truck's fuel outlet on the tank. I'll have to look for a place for a standpipe to see what holes are available. I assume a standpipe is a pipe that goed down into the tank, but how is this sealed to the top of the...
making use of the deuce fuel tank to also run a generator would seem simple, but I could use some confirmation.
deuce fuel tank:
1. has a diesel fuel outlet
2. has a vent tube
3. has a fuel return tube
generator set:
1. has lift pump that can suck the fuel from the M35's tank outlet (whether...
