New Uses for M840 Shelter Dolly Trailer?

Does anyone know of a manual or list that shows what shelters are compatible with what dollies? I have looked in the manuals for the M720, M832, S-280, etc., and not found this information. (Doesn't mean its not there, it may have evaded me). Cheers

New Uses for M840 Shelter Dolly Trailer?

There was actually a military low-boy platform made for these. I have only ever seen one (and I've been looking for a while), but they won't let me have it! I'll look at the nomenclature when I am next over there, and take some pictures. I am currently working on a SPAM (yes, that's the...

    license plate mounting ideas

Pawnshop has something along the lines of Mkcoen's bracket that pins to the stabilizer mount. His light is battery powered (AA, perhaps?), so no need for extra wires. I'll see if I can get him to chime in. Cheers

Anyway to restore faded data plates?

I was recently cleaning up my HSTRU trailer and wanted to try salvaging the tie-down data plates. These were apparently painted over when the originally 383 camo trailer got painted tan. The unit markings were then painted over the tan. Later, when auctioned off, the unit markings were painted...

    I need help v-100 ownership

Yep, he's a super good guy and a good friend! (The one in NY) And yes, I owed you a call back and failed to make it, sorry. The first half of 2013 was not a good time for me, I was taking care of my mum while she was dying, so lost track of a lot of things I would normally have been better...

    I need help v-100 ownership

There is a fellow in Texas who has restored several of these- if you brought it to him to fix up, you could likely legally get it titled here ,then export it to yourself in NJ. Its an extra step, but keeping things above board, apart from being a good idea, is worth the effort in the long...

Tanks off-loaded from ships on 10 tons from Vietnam

And cheap too! I hope they went to a collector and not the scrapper. Cheers

    APC tow points/shackles

And yes, they do fit on the same brackets the usual deuce/5-ton/etc. have for the round clevises, using the same pins. Cheers

    M932a1 Rear Brakes Stuck

As mentioned above - bang with the sledge, put it in gear, rock it a bit and see if will break loose, repeat as necessary. Be gentle with the "put in gear" and rocking part. One of my 931's does this almost every time I drive it, the other has never stuck. Cheers

Mounting remote brake master cylinder reservoir

No picture, but I mounted mine on the engine side of the firewall, where it is easily accessible through the side flap on the driver's side. There was an existing hole already in the firewall, so I only had to drill one. Some folks put theirs in the cab by/behind the seat. Personally, I...

    Rac-15 mre/water heater power cord

While messing around with a partially scrapped M35 yesterday, I saw this connector plug and it looked right. Tried it, it is. It's the one that goes into the flasher unit. Cheers PS - I now see that M123Mack already shared that tidbit of info back in post 34. And I was so pleased with my...

Picked up a xm1144 guided missle trailer.. Anybody ever seen one ?

Here is another picture of an XM1144 behind a Humvee with a slightly different launcher setup than the one posted above. Since the Losat system was cancelled, there are likely VERY few of those trailers about. You have a rare gem, glad you're preserving it. Cheers

    M129a4

You're welcome. Let me know if you need more. They apparently came in two types, with the M126 chassis or the civvie type chassis with the air brakes. From the paperwork, mine never left RRAD after being built. The box was built by Kalyn in Gatesville, and mated with a chassis at RRAD...

    M200A1 Tire Size

On MVs (and other types) a "wheel" is regarded as whatever is at the end of an axle, be it a single or dual, so the actual number of tires doesn't count. (Does that make sense?). Thus an M35 is a 6x6 regardless of whether it has 6 single tires, or 10 total tires when dualed in back; or in the...

    Changes in Forum Editing?

Got it, thanks. I learn more every day! Its hard to squeeze new information into this old brain, or keep track of some of what's already in there. :) Cheers

A couple more pictures, close up of the main latch, and a pic of a buddy inside (he is 6' tall) that shows the floor. Cheers

    M129a4

Here ya go Jeff. There is a wedge top and bottom, and two roller latches along the side. Shuts very firmly! If the pictures aren't clear enough (the site software greatly reduces the size, and thus quality), PM me an email and I'll send full size pictures. I zeroed in on the detail bits, so...

    Hello from Dublin, Ireland

Mark, after a weekend in the sun in Texas, some time in Ireland will be a welcome respite! They say you don't go to Ireland for the weather. :) (Except in August, perhaps, my sisters are over now and say the weather has been splendid). Dieselnatalie, you are indeed just up the road from my...

    M129a4

I have an M129A4, but on the M126 chassis, so it has regular military 11.00x20 tires. Mine is a 2009 build, never issued, still has the drill shavings on the floor from when the light fixtures were installed. Has all the tools in the tool box, still with labels, all manuals, including on a CD...

Picked up a xm1144 guided missle trailer.. Anybody ever seen one ?

Congratulations! I saw that one when it was for sale, thought it was really cool. Glad you're going to save it in its original condition. Don't forget to show us some pictures when you get it fitted out for the parades. [thumbzup] Cheers
