Crank, NO START after a 100 degree day. No issues since new injectors 3 months ago.

Not sure I would wide open throttle. That would be a rude awakening if it did fire up. But you are correct you can bleed the air out with it set at idle.

    seeking CUCV IP Replacement how-to

I would just put it on an make sure everything is as clean/dry as possible. You may get a small amount misplaced. Just be careful as you can. Nothing will happen with a small residual amount coming in contact with mechanical parts. I would use gaskets if you have a major concern. They work well...

    seeking CUCV IP Replacement how-to

That will work. And believe me. It is THE RIGHT STUFF. It works wonders. It has not failed me ever. Make sure you have clean surfaces and pre-clean them so they are oil and silicone free. I use acetone, DX 330 or denatured alcohol. Some kind of solvent. MEK, MAK Lacquer thinner. They all work...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Check the starter support bracket. See if it is off and rattling about. I can take a picture of the pump. Are you talking P/S pump???

    Easter find M1008 2015

Today i sprayed a few coats of gray primer on the cargo bed. I will let it sit a few days and sand it smooth again. I want to get rolling on this project. I have several other things going on right now. All in all it was not in very bad shape. It had seen 20 years of use since the last time I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

SOS different day. Splitting firewood. Loading up my Crown of Thorns M1009. I have all my CUCV's listed for sale. I have 7 vehicles and getting to use them 1 day a week is getting costly. I left the state inspection run out on 2 and have been driving my new truck for the past 2 months. I have to...

The valve covers are fine. Just clean them well with a wire wheel and use Permatex The Right Stuff and reassemble after you clean everything up. Place them on a flat surface and lightly tap the flange level again. They are not scrap. Trust me. Keep going you are doing GREAT.

    seeking CUCV IP Replacement how-to

That Orange gasket material is the Genuine GM sealant they were using at the time. That was good stuff. They changed the compound in it now. #0 years and things got better. i would have avoided removing the valve covers if they were not leaking. But you are ahead of that now. You need a small...

    seeking CUCV IP Replacement how-to

Small screw driver in the one side. Just pop the clip and the loom holders open like a clam shell. The clip holding them is on one side only. Be patient. How rusty are the valve covers? Are you going to remove them? Are they leaking? If they are not leaking I would treat them in place.

    Burnt valve on 6.2

The heads you removed my still be serviceable. I would take them to a reputable machine shop and have the checked out. The valve seats can be re-seated and the heads can be useful again. I am sure there are a lot of guys driving CUCV's with bad head gaskets at this point in time and hardly even...

Crank, NO START after a 100 degree day. No issues since new injectors 3 months ago.

You must check ALL glow plugs. Also check if voltage is coming from the bottom stud of the glow plug relay. I find it easy to pull ALL glow plugs and get a visual look and test them on the bench with the battery charger. But I have had several that cycled the light as normal but the current was...

    M1008 Brake line set?

Did you order brake hoses for a 1984 Chevrolet K30 pickup? If you ordered them for a 1/2 or 3/4 ton they will not fit. This is a 1 ton truck. The calipers and banjo fittings are unique to the 1 ton truck. Good Luck. Report back. Get good quality stuff. While you are in there I would change the...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

That will work. Do not line up the ends with the ends on the main bearing cap. If you do you will have trouble. Put the ends at 4 and 10 , 2 and 8. But do not put them at 3 and 9. A little light oil and push them right up in there. Easy as that. Good luck.

    M1008 Brake line set?

You can make one fairly easy. You will need a double flaring tool. I think you can borrow a tool like that from an auto parts store. The one ton is unique with the extended brake hose brackets on the frame. Good Luck. I am fairly close if you need one made.

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

You should use a sealer. $27. is peanuts when you have to remove the pan the second time for a leak. You already have done everything twice. Do as you wish. But I would wait the holiday out and replace the rear main seal and get the correct sealer. The right stuff is the Right Stuff. Good Luck.

    Easter find M1008 2015

Shame is the green M1028 has all new GM sheet metal on it and they are going to be cutting the fenders. Can't tell them anything. I would not care but I know what happens from this point and it is always down hill. I never seen anything good come from hacking up a perfectly good running vehicle...

Just tighten them up. All is well. If you have it this far no need to go get more tools. i know they have a torque. But tight is good enough. I am sure brake line fittings and hose clamps have a torque. I never see anyone torquing them. Just don't do chin ups on the wrench. And a 3/4" wrench...

    Manual Glow Plug Install

I seen it but do not know what it is for. You are talking the diagnostic plug at the dash above the throttle pedal. Not needed. remove and discard the entire plug and harness. Keep the round bracket it is perfect for mounting a gauge. Or sell it on Ebay.

It should not be tapered. Stop now. I can take no more of this. Post your address. I will send you this very rod. i have had it 20 years I doubt I need it anymore. It is genuine CUCV with no taper. DO NOT PUT A TAPERED ROD IN. DO NOT SAND THE FUEL PUMP PUSH ROD.
