    mep-16a problem

Hi Jack Welcome! A genset once gave me fits - it turned out to be a faulty "low oil warning switch", but it sounds like fuel. Can't give more insite then that. Good luck Lee in Alaska

Sounds like a good argument for a "Bob Job". Those inspectors can usually find something wrong with a new truck! Lee in Alaska

    Masking Tires for Paint

The sheet metal ring works great. I have also used an old scrap of lenoleum. Anything, that is stiff enough to hold its shape. On little stuff, smooth a coat of grease on it. After a couple of days, the paint is dry, and the grease will blast off with a pressure washer (be careful), or maybe...

installing cargo tie-downs inside deuce bed

A Greenlee Punch, otherwise called a cabinet punch, is designed to punch holes in sheet metal electrical boxes for conduit. I suspect that the MV beds will be a little too tough for them. MV beds are high strength material. Lee in Alaska

M series % ton wheel nut torqe

No way! Budds were around for many years, and not just on the MV's, but on the commercial vehicles. If they got loose it makes a terrible mess that you have to often cut off with a torch. That is a problem on the side of the road. The only thing worse then a flat on an inside dual, was to have...

M series % ton wheel nut torqe

In the "Old Days", before torque wrenches & I" impact wrenches, we did all that by hand with the "Budd Wrench" and a cheeter pipe. Then, the proper torque was that you tightened lugs till they "Popped". That is still the proper torque. When they pope, they won't come off. That is a lot of work...

    Good or bad idea...

Just get after it bpj911! You have a good idea - your truck will haul anything you can get in the back of it. I know that I did, with a couple of old M211's, from the North Slope to S Alberta. Your truck was made to "geter done", under any conditions, not just drive around town. That little...

    Good or bad idea...

That's a tall jump for a little astro van. If you can get the little Guy up there, go for it. You can add support to the tailgate with another chain, or two. I'd try driving the Deuce home too, but I'd have ALL my tools with me. Many MV's have had considerable"deferred maintainence". It will be...

    Hub Turning

You just over-torqued the T-case. Usually, you break an axle or twist off the drive line. You, no doubt had ecxceptional traction on the wheels, and the Transfer case didn't like all of it at once. Lee in Alaska

How do you remove the solenoid?

Sometime you can clean the contacts on the solenoid, and it will work for a long while. While its out, I would sure check the brushes & bushings in the starter. Lee in Alaska

repower with a screming detroit or possible big cam cummins?

RE: repower with a screming detroit or possible big cam cumm As Dan mentions, there are lots of things a bout swaps that soak up time. Most swaps don't get completed, they take so long, and are best done in a well equipped shop. Days can be soaked up on just something small like the throttle...

    Tough recovery

If the turbo fails, it will smoke a LOT. Lets see... I lost one on a Detroit engine once & it used a couple of gallons of engine oil, in just a couple of miles. The lube oil for the turbo went into the air intake manifold - so it burned that too. They don't have seals, but close tolerance...
