^This is what I've always read.
Don't cap the front or it can't vent (and thus lock up the brakes). There is a way to do it, but it involves dome tinkering and re-routing.
"People hate the military or any associated vehicles "
Yeah, in CA. But I can't fathom why anyone but the problem would want to live there these days.
Just sayin'
I'd actually suggest staying on the beaten trail. Major Interstates are going to offer far more solutions to any issues that arise. I get what you're saying, but chances of getting assistance are better on a major trafficked highway.
And that's an A1R truck. Those seats are actually quite...
They are to allow for the workbenches (which were heavy enough to easily have cu the aluminum flooring. Same with the ones added to the wall. Basically for reinforcement and wall/floor protection).
It's respectable weight loss.
Now "can" it be structural? Yes and no. What will be added to...
Look closely and you can see his extensions.
Keep in mind, at that height your side curtains won't touch the sidegates/tailgate.
Note that his cover is merely a bikini top with no sides.
Beauty of a truck !
Yeah, keep a close on on those "may pop" XML's.
They are *do* pops.
I think 2007 was the last year they used them. In any event, look closely for *any* bulge that appears between the big "knob" and the rim. That's the indicator to watch for. And make certain that they...
Well it's +3" so it jumps to about 5'9" in the center I would guess. I seem to recall the frame is normally 5'6"
I'll climb up in the trailer and measure later tonight.
I just place collars under each of the six legs. You can easily add 3" of headroom. Much more and the cover won't have enough overlap on the bed's side panels, etc. Also any longer and you'd need to make an actual extension for the legs else you won't have enough footing to hold the frame in...
The CTIS has pre-determined "safe speeds" to operate the truck with less-than-normal air pressure. There is a dash indicator that comes on if that speed is exceeded. The CTIS is programmed to push the tire pressure back up automatically if the dash indicator is ignored.
I think that the 55 mph rating is only on the Michelin "may pops" and ZXLs. Pretty sure that the Goodyears are rated well beyond 55mph for highway. Of course you always want to adjust your speed with any load scenario.
It's the exact same mount as the OP pic. The angled cover was only done on M1078 and M1079 A1 trucks I think. They were specifically for the chalks and chains. Mine is stock A1R and I suspect they found the final design more versatile.
