Most I've seen are on 406s with a real short wheelbase. They have a bed that's almost as long as it is wide, no sideboards, and with a wide truncated triangle insert in the back running forward in the bed floor. The insert comes out when running something like a backhoe attachment but also...
Roger to both.
I still run the streets at night but by then I'm too tired to get into trouble. What's the quote on chasing women? "I'd be like a dog chasing a car; if I caught one, I wouldn't know what to do with it."
Wrestled the dual rears and all the related components out from under my deuce this weekend and got the 5 ton rear springs, perchs and axle in... boy, what a treat. Next, out comes the engine, trans, transfer case so I've got room to work on getting the 5ton steer axle in. Can anybody remind me...
Definately sounds like adjustment. The down and dirty way to check is to make sure the wheels are pointed straight ahead then jack up both fronts. Remembering to secure the vehicle on stands so as not to end the test, or your rythmical breathing too soon. At this point it might be good to see if...
Here's a few more pictures of Barstow to drool over.
Typo in first post; should say "1000AM and 100+ degrees..." not 100AM.
Sorry for the confusion; the moon ain't that bright out here.
Neat place to visit but I'd suggest a spring road trip as Barstow is high desert which means HOT. It was 100AM and 100+degrees when these pictures were taken. Check in at the main yard office, see James and tell him what you're interested in and he'll usually turn you loose to tour the yard...
It's a cargo (M-977), we've also got a 984 wrecker but the engineers are the ones who get first dibs on it. My personal one (another 977) is in pieces but should be complete and running by the end of the year. When I get to roar by my place in this guy, it sure makes the neighbors nervous. Heck...
Will see if I can't take a few more shots of it for you guys. Bear with me though as it gets parked out at the ranch nowadays, after a few nastygrams and the torch-light and pitchfork parade by my local homeowner's association.
Jeez, some people just don't appreciate the finer things in life...
Pressure plate looks the same as mine. My clutch disc had three arms(?), each with a pair of full metallic friction pads front and rear. Looks like yours will do the job just fine. Happy wrenching.
Clean your pressure plate with something like Brakecleen or carb cleaner but use it sparingly, like on a rag. The pressure plates I've been nose to nose with like a little dab of moly grease on their pivot points where the fingers are and you don't want to wash that completely out. But don't...
Go to www.bellintercoolers.com they've got some pretty good tech data there. Sounds like; Keep the turbo to intercooler and intercooler to manifold plumbing short, the intercooler core tubes should have pretty close to the same total cross-section as the tubes between it and the turbo and it and...
Small turbos make power, big turbos just help with emissions. As fast as they spin, turbos have little or no back-pressure unless you get crazy and go way too small. Both are built for use on the 465s.

Absolutely right on the turbo high temps. A heat shield would definately help with radiated heat but a good portion of it is conducted through the housing itself. i.e. Warnings to idle engine after long hauls or pulling hard.
Must be confusing to the turbo when it's turbine is wrapped to keep...
I'm never shy about asking questions if I don't have an answer and I've a diesel mechanic that's real sharp as to what happens when and why. Will run the idea by him and report back. I'm thinking heating hot air hotter by 40 degrees or so isn't near as good as heating cool air hotter by 40...
