I heard from my boy for the first time in a month yesterday. They have been out and about on ops. He sent a bunch of pictures. Since they deserve a venue of their own, I will probably start a separate thread for them, but here are a few.
Everything I post from him is cleared as OpSec...
Here is a Seagrave truck that is displayed in the Motor T museum on Camp Pendleton. I took the pictures in March of this year. The light and my camera do not do this truck justice!
It having Navy markings is intriguing.

THey look good in the pictures, so here's hoping you are not disappointed! [thumbzup]
The topper on the 416 looks interesting, maybe you can post some details once the recovery is complete?
Have a safe trip.
Cheers
I'm not sure if this is truck is in military use or not, but it is based on the M35, so....
Found on the internet, I believe it is in the Netherlands, no other information.

Rolling down the back window actually won't help at all at higher speeds (above say 35mph) and actually makes things worse. The airflow will roll behind the vehicle and the hot air will come in through the back window, along with all the exhaust fumes, engine heat, road heat, etc.
I know this...
Another thing to try if you haven't already- M931 types are notorious for the rear brakes locking up after they have been parked for a while.
Try using a BFH to bang on the brake drums, a few good whacks (not enough to leave dents!) and some judicious backing-and-fowarding will usually break...
Good ideas. [thumbzup]
I would love to see the Shriner 'rings", that would be a hoot!
And yes, I enjoy our convoys. You will notice I seldom choose to lead, it's mostly so I can watch the vehicles ahead of me...:-D

M916A2/M870 and unknown dozer type. Belongs to the Guard, along with the Humvee's and the 5-ton. The operator of the 916 was a nice guy, happily told/showed me all the details.
The thing is air-conditioned! Typically for the military, it has AC because the computer in the cab had a tendency...
I have both types of M105, and I like both. I see no need to slag one to praise the other.
Except the original A3 landing leg, not much to defend that....:-?
And I would like to have an A3 deuce to haul my M105A3, I happen to like the way they look.
To each his own, that's what makes the...
And our "mini-convoy" actually hit 45mph at one point! (Two M37s and M1009/M416).
The black tree picture is the a small part of the area that burned last year. Nature is repairing things, but it will take many years to recover completely.

Both sides should have a stack of thin plates with numbers on them. If you have them all, you should have a 0 and a 4 to use. Yes on the top plate having the C on one side. If you don't have a top plate, the numbers will fall off!
Below are examples of the old "high viz" plate used until...
On a 1009 the number is 3 for the vehicle alone, 4 with the C showing on the top plate towing a trailer. The C stands for Combination, ie truck and trailer.
Per the manual, the field expedient number is 85% of your total weight, but most vehicles are in the "Standard" list in the manual...
Here is a picture from last Saturday's Texas Veterans Memorial Park dedication in Smithville- James on the left, Roboskid center, and some weirdo who slipped into the picture on the right, all vets themselves.

I agree with what Silverstate55 said, matches my observations.
I saw my first M939 series trucks in 1984, and do not recall seeing any M35's after that time period (though the M109/M185 box trucks were around for a little while longer).
That is also when the vehicles started switching over...
Tee hee! I told ya you couldn't/wouldn't stop at one.......
Saturday at the parade we were talking accessories, that's a serious secondary complication of OD disease. You, sir, are incurable now.
Cheers
And now its parked at my place, where I will be embarrassed to have my 1009s next to it! I will have to become motivated to clean them up. :)
You got a good one Sid!
Cheers
