there are 2 gaskets in there that can leak coolant into the oil. 1 between the block and aluminum housing and 1 between the aluminum housing and the steel cover. i have seen factory gaskets fail as well.
i have had the fuse blocks melt. Replaced the harness. there should be some member on here with donar trucks. Let us know how the terminal replacment turns out ![thumbzup]
Dont waste your time with them. The joint isnt gonna last. As mentioned before try to sorce some new ones. Bob H has 880 axles, you may want to contact him.
actualy im more concernd about getting my 1028 back together. The weather hasnt been very nice to me.....

if it where a vent hole (which it is not) it would deserve a darwin award. The oil slinging off of the ring gear would sling right out the hole........
