Thats exactly what I was thinking about, wonder how much that is? Maybe I could get something like that only have it work with the crane instead. Hmmmmm......
I had an off the wall idea of fabricating some sort of device for the fifth wheel plate that would go back and under the towed vehicle so the majority of the weight would be taken on the fifth wheel plate. Just throwing ideas out there for now.
Kenny - what parts do you have for that towbar?
How did the military tow with a wrecker? I am talking about without the towbar. Was there some attachment to the boom the enabled the truck to pick up the front of another truck or did they just hook up to the front shackles and lift it that way?
If you read my previous posting about the M246...
What kind of trailer is that?
Is it set up to run off of the 24v deuce system with the air/hydraulic brake system? or did you convert to 12v?
Glad to hear everything went ok and nice setup!
Its got 11.00 x 20's on it now, no wonder it looked different.
73m819 - how fast does your 819 go? What sort of engine does it have?
I was thinking of buying a salvage 5 ton with the Cummins and swapping engines.
Sounds good to me. I don't know about popular items but I know when I had my deuce, I wanted troop seats, a winch(complete) and tires.
Keep in mind storage for all these truck parts
good luck
Wade
Not to hijack this thread, but yea Kenny, the old man said he didn't want to let it go for less than $2500. He is one of those guys that
has alot of money, land and junk and doesn't know what to do with any of it. Sad thing is, he will let it rot there instead of coming down a little and...
There is a M811 up on GL thats close to me, but it doesn't have any pictures yet. It says a 5 ton chasis so I guess no bed? Anybody have pictures of a M811 truck?
thanks
Wade
that one looks like the one I am thinking of buying. His description says 672 Mac V6 engine - V6? and the crane capacity is 12 tons, unless he modified it, the military ratiing is 10 tons.
Looks cool anyway but $25,000 is a little high.
