    towing with a wrecker

I had an off the wall idea of fabricating some sort of device for the fifth wheel plate that would go back and under the towed vehicle so the majority of the weight would be taken on the fifth wheel plate. Just throwing ideas out there for now. Kenny - what parts do you have for that towbar?

    towing with a wrecker

I thought I saw a device the military used behind the wreckers that lifted the front of the towed vehicle, something like a "whiffle tree" bar maybe?

    towing with a wrecker

How did the military tow with a wrecker? I am talking about without the towbar. Was there some attachment to the boom the enabled the truck to pick up the front of another truck or did they just hook up to the front shackles and lift it that way? If you read my previous posting about the M246...

Deuce, Trailer, Dingo, Atl, Ga -> FIG, Pa.

What kind of trailer is that? Is it set up to run off of the 24v deuce system with the air/hydraulic brake system? or did you convert to 12v? Glad to hear everything went ok and nice setup!

So tell me about the M246 wrecker/tractor

Its got 11.00 x 20's on it now, no wonder it looked different. 73m819 - how fast does your 819 go? What sort of engine does it have? I was thinking of buying a salvage 5 ton with the Cummins and swapping engines.

Looking for a 5 ton with a MAC engine???

that one looks like the one I am thinking of buying. His description says 672 Mac V6 engine - V6? and the crane capacity is 12 tons, unless he modified it, the military ratiing is 10 tons. Looks cool anyway but $25,000 is a little high.
