    Steering wheel removal

    I was all prepared to press off that steering wheel with a mighty puller. Removed the nut, wiggled it and off it came. Soldier A had nicely greased it and it was not the least stuck.     Ah....then you need to pull the top and bottom plastic column shroud halves apart, remove the top, remove the 3 fasteners in the holes at the bottom, remove the bottom shroud and then look for the white disk that you can pull to unlock the shifter. More of a pain....I think pulling it locked up...

    I think you are very much on the safe side. The consensus from many threads seems to be that you do not want to see more than 1250-1300 pre-turbo, so you do have a little wiggle room.

    Get their ferrules, too. You CAN use the brass ferrules from the plumbing section in the hardware store but they are a hair to wide and the compression nut won't grab a thread. Briefly touch the ferrule to the bench grinder on both open sides and - voila - they also work.

    DB556, you are planning a serious attack there! New filters, HH O-rings, oil change, coolant top up, all aired up.....she'll fire right up! Don't forget brake fluid and a means to bleed the brakes! I see you have duct tape, so you are going to be just fine!
