    M129 Trailer

Finally found these, didn't find the mil standard. Can see the difference in rear doors. FYI the 128 has no side windows.

    1953 M104A1 or M105A1

It's a 50's chassis for sure. Could have been an M104 and the unit swapped bodies and landing gear. The data plate (if there and legible) should tell a story for sure.

    new guy from OH

Welcome aboard from Florida. No worries on location, probably close to Indiana. Can you work towards capitalization and punctuation please, it's the house rules that you make an effort.

    M101 A2 pick up

When you strip it down to repack the bearings, grab the numbers off of them. I'm sure they are more common than just about anything else on the trailer.

M1010 heavy modding ...would U do it?

I can't speak intelligently for the market there in Canada so take what I say with a grain of salt. The M1010 has been in the talk alot lately and they have been bringing a very respectable price. Given enough time you would probably be dollars ahead to work out a trade or sale of it as it...

    M129 Trailer

I can't seem to find that info. I've checked TM 43-0001-31 and the TMs without luck. Also tried to hook up with the Assist site for mil standards and couldn't find that. I do know that the M128 series has full width back doors and the M129 has the narrow doors. Don't know if you can scale a...

Drew, you and Steve aren't geeks, you both are supergeeks.

    M1010 Receiver Hitch Install

Safety chains was an issue as was getting in the back of the wagon while the trailer or hitch was installed. My solution was the adaptive reuse of an M1009 pintle mount. I trimmed off the top and bolted it on the pintle riser under the pintle. Now I have a small step and a place for chains.

    outage

Can you please explain how you are able to manage this forum from a smart phone? I was under the impression that smart phones were not able to search, punctuate or capitalize. Amazing!

    Engine Swap PROs/CONs?

I like mine reasonably stock but if I were using it as a mud truck I might opt for a big block. As an owner of many a big block 4x4 chevys, a CUCV with a big block will pass everything but a gas station.

    M1010 Receiver Hitch Install

So here's what I did to obtain clearance for the steps. When we added the hitch we added a small piece of steel on the ladder to shim it out and level it. It wasn't quite enough but I was OK with it. Now that I needed the clearance for the plug, I came up with this. I drilled 2 5/16" holes...

New 1028 Owner, I have a transmission question.

I would start with the basics and do a fluid and filter change. Filter might be spooged up or even slipping off. Also, you are going to need to add your state right there where it says location under your name.

    M1010 Receiver Hitch Install

Here are 2 pics I just took. One shows the channel welded in the back. I opted to do the channel vertical vs horizontal to add strength in more of an up and down movement. I was not so concerned with pulling the hitch free or collapsing it but more with the raised pintle bending the front of...

    M101 A2 pick up

Congrats and welcome aboard. There are many like minded people in the 7 round state!

    M1010 Receiver Hitch Install

I will have some more pics in the AM. Should have taken them today. Today I embarked on wiring trailer lights. I got the factory plug from Erik's and made up a harness for it. Being ever worried about splice connections, I added packards to the factory harness and used the little "Y"...

    Presenting my new M1010

Yes Jeff, that is correct. It was all Roy's doing and seemed overly simple to me but it works wonderfully. With these self exciting 1 wire alternators, I can't see any way for the system to fail short of an alternator failure.

    Dually Rims for HMMWV Tires

Yeah, Dark Star. Thus far he has zero posts. Don't know if he's active on here anymore or not. You could send an email through the site I suppose!

    Alternators alternative set up

The alts on my truck are common on over the road trucks. Many Freightliners dealers are open 24-7 and have these on the shelf. Nothing like being able to source alts at O-dark thirty. Jeff, I see your point in initial cost and frankly, I think the 24-12 system will work.

    Alternators alternative set up

Additional info on my setup. The Leece Neville alts on my M1010 bolt right in. They are 165A and isolated ground by design. Quite popular in over the road trucks so easy to get. One alt wired to front battery and one to rear. Net result is everything works just as the truck was delivered. It...

    Alternators alternative set up

M1010 requires 24V for the air conditioning as well as normal starting. When chevyc60 (Roy) redid my wagon he eliminated the duvac and installed 2 12V Leece Neville one wire alts. It works flawlessly and maintains all factory features. It's brutally simple and requires no attention.
