I've talked to alot of experts in auto extrication for the FD. State instructors, industry experts, etc. They all say the same thing. Once a vehicle has had the halo "broken", it will NEVER be as stong as it was, not matter how good a welding job you do.

Good luck finding the ABS MWO kit. They are kinda like the M998 parking brake MWO kit. I have only seen ONE for sale (on ebay), and I check ebay and MV shows regularly. It went for over $700. Im glad my truck had one put on by the USMC.
Try the additive before you go messing with the screw. There is an additive specially made for "fuel already in the tank" I THINK it's called "Dieselkleen 911" or something like that. Any good parts store will know.
FYI, the military does that to keep the "number of needed different types of oils on the shelf" as low as possible. For people like us, I'd suggest putting in what the component manufacturer recommends, even if it goes against the TM, AFTER careful research.

The truck in the pic ISNT painted CARC 686A Tan.. Looks like some civy "looks kinda the same" color.
FYI.. No civy paint looks exactly in color and texture liek CARC. Only CARC looks exactly like CARC. No matter who says it matches.. Once you compare the 2 side by side, you'll see.
While your doing it,change the oil cooler's coolant hose too. Those 3 hoses are THE most neglected to be changed, EVER hoses on the deuce because they are a PITA to get to and do.
There are 2 short (like 3 inches long) coolant hoses that are located ABOVE the manifolds that hardly EVER get changed. They are circled in red. The green circles are gaskets that you will need to change when you change the hoses. There are 6 of them needed.
I'd warm up CUCV and HMMWV engines out in the field by using a coleman type lantern. A bit safer than a fire, but not much... Granted there was about 5 feet of packed snow and we dug a little hole for it to sit in under the block, but it worked. It was also -30 to -50 out and the trucks were...
