A1R rear axle locker (intermediate axle from MTV) questions.

I've done some searches here on the forum but I haven't found any discussions about this...... So my A1R has the high-pinion rear axle. Basically the intermediate axle from the MTV with the output blocked off. So if I get a complete 3.07 intermediate third member...... don't those have some...

A1R - Haldex PURest™ Air Dryer.... turbo protection valve?!?

I haven't noticed any power loss.... but then when it's under boost I can't hear the compressor so..... for the price of them it's probably worth just replacing it if I'm taking it apart to inspect.

A1R - Haldex PURest™ Air Dryer.... turbo protection valve?!?

On my A1R the compressor is fed air from the manifold which is after the turbo and intercooler. Don't know if this was a change to the A1 or the A1R but definitely the compressor is post turbo.

A1R - Haldex PURest™ Air Dryer.... turbo protection valve?!?

Part of the problem is I'm not sure exactly what the valve does - it seems to be there to shut off the inlet port during a purge signal from the governor. I'm not entirely clear on the mechanics of why blocking off the inlet to the dryer during a purge is desirable..... the compressor is already...

A1R - Haldex PURest™ Air Dryer.... turbo protection valve?!?

I have serviced the dryer cartridge on my truck. In my reading and travels I come across this "turbo protection valve". I can't find much in the way of information related to this. The usual scumbags and others list this part...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Yeah the prices have gone up. Even just since the 1st of the new year. I figured this was going to happen with everything going on in the world so I ordered all my components in December and total price shipped was $3,994 for literally everything - I spent another $160 on a hose crimper and I'll...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

The gen 2 FMTV unit is rated at 33,300 BTU's according to Tom at Waterloo Specialties: https://www.lmtvtrucks.com/AC/index.html He must be experiencing quite a high demand since the gen 2's are temporarily out of stock along with several other components. The stock system (or at least the...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Tom is a member here and has all the parts. You only need to make up your hoses: There may be a wait on some items. Get them while you can before summer. I have almost everything and Tom has been great to work with. Good prices too if you compare to what others are asking...

    1078 A0 door handles

On my A1R I had to replace all the weatherstripping around the latch as this was rotten and allowing the latch to move and not actuate the rods properly. My locksmith noted that the locks used in the A1 doors are common travel trailer locks. Not at all very secure. Just FYI.

    M1078 Alternator/ 12vdc side of 24+12vdc Alternator/ Please educate me

First things first - disconnect each battery and test it's voltage. If one is not 12.6v+ then charge them and test again. Then test again after they sit disconnected for a day. A weak/dying/dead battery will cause all kinds of havoc with the system. Also what are your LED's on your regulator...

    Emergency lmtv brake help

No clue on that one..... You might need to find a forum dealing with trucks that commonly use the AD-9 dryer (from manufacture I mean). Unfortunately there are as many dryer models out there as there are stars in the sky it seems and I don't know of any military applications so not likely to get...

    Emergency lmtv brake help

...... I kinda want a bobbed deuce..... let me know if you decide to do that. There were no LMTV's in my unit when I served and I was attached to motorpool where I worked on a lot of M35's, HMMWV's and 800/900 series trucks. I'm in Oregon so not far from you. The LMTV is a sweet platform. No...

    Emergency lmtv brake help

I edited my post with some pics I found of the destruction. I would still pull the head. You can't assume the condition of the disc valve springs. Could be an easy fix to prevent a very bad hard-down later. Rick

    Emergency lmtv brake help

There's a LOT of water, and enough oil to make milkshake...... I'm not (yet) an LMTV expert, but one thing I DO KNOW is compressor and compressed air systems. I spent several years working for Roger's Machinery both assembling compressors from parts for the rental fleet and rebuilding recip...

    LMTV headlight buckets rotated?

Could be that PVT Snuffy rotated the housing on the bumper. They are only held on by three 13mm nuts on the back side. Try rotating the housing? Are the incandescent bulbs right way up? I would say if the housing isn't rotated incorrectly then the projectors you got were probably made...

Max forestry tool …. Are they any good?

The Silky japanese saws are amazing. I have a couple of them. Great for backpacking, etc. My german shepherd has a Silky PocketBoy in his backpack. He also carries (along with his bowl, food/water, and treats) a small first aid kit, a bite/sting kit, and a pocket knife. Because if someone falls...

    Emergency lmtv brake help

Yeah looks like that's a candidate. My only concern is are the mounting straps included? They are included with the original Bendix unit. The original Bendix AD-9 24v part numbers seems to be 65224 (includes mounting bracket and wiring harness)...

    Emergency lmtv brake help

Well it looks like that Bendix AD-9 is a reasonable choice and cheap too. The pic above is clearly an A0 truck since there's no battery disconnect. Rick

Max forestry tool …. Are they any good?

Honestly looks like a gimmick that tries to do everything and probably does all of it poorly. An axe is a great tool when used carefully (it is a seriously dangerous tool if you don't know what you are doing) - it is WAY out-performed by even a hand saw for most applications. Unless maybe you...
