Unplugging te relay poses no problems. It stops the starter from turning. Unless it is stuck out in the flex plate. Then cable cutters/battery cables are cheaper then a wiring harness. These are the stop all tools used by emergency workers all over the world. Battery cables can be easily repaired.
Or just reach up and unplug the relay. End of story. It can be mounted 2 ways. Plug towards driver. Plug towards firewall. Firewall mounted plug unplugs with a gentle tug. All over. The END. Roll the film credits. Mic drop.
I still like the plug and play relays. Just never had a trouble with them. 22 years and still going. No reply needed. Do as you wish. I am convinced I have a good setup. Have I replaced a few relays? Yes. Do all things fail? Always have and always will. I have a very nice special relay I...
I have seen them both ways. It means nothing. I would think the torque rods would have been the thing to add if anything at all. I am really surprised that these do not have them rods. I had 305 1/2 ton Chevrolet trucks and they had the torque rods. Big HD 5/4 and they skipped them on the...
This is the piece I am having replaced on the front drive shaft. I have several used ones but wanted to get a new one to avoid or prolong future down time. I did not get it back yet and will post pictures of the rebuilt driveshaft.
Had it not been for the removable top. I would have attempted. I had a set of the 4 part doors from a 2000 Astro van and a set of 1991 Suburban Barn doors. But that went south quickly. It was NOT worth the effort. It took me 15 years to design a pickup bed cab combination for the M1009. I mean...
After 20 years of using this tractor and snow blowing I was about to give up on it. The tractor would struggle to go in reverse. During the storm I was having to get a push anytime I got near a snow bank in reverse. I had it at the Honda dealer and they said that hydra-static transmissions are...
I was going to mount folding reefer steps to the side. But when I seen how awkward it was to get things up and down from the roof rack. I just left it there for esthetic value. Loading and unloading anything in and out of the M1009 rear gate and roof area is a PITA. I have a very hard time as I...
What generator engine does it have? Is it a remount body from a Dodge M series? What is the body build date? is it an Able Body Company? Just a few questions I may be able to help. I have scrapped a few of these units in the past and make plow trucks out of them.
I think the right and left fuel tank are the same tank. The brackets and everything are the same. I used them before. And if you don't want to cut your bed side for the fuel door Fill the right tank thru the rear wheel well opening. Could be dirty sometimes. But deal with it. It will save a lot...
I made a roof rack for Crown of Thorns M1009 out of a bulk fluid steel skid. I made it 20 years ago. The frames I see now are round pipe and welded together. This type was square tubing and bolted together. I could have made it 100 + ft long if I kept adding sections and bolting the together. If...
Is that the door from the S280 you bought from me? I am building a new door for the S280 I have. If skidder wants to buy a stripped out S280 I have one in Pennsylvania. I am at the end of I 78 where it intersects with I 81. I am making the replacement door panel from Walbash Duraplate. I am...
From cutting Suburbans and K5 Blazers apart. I recall the 2 rear cross members as being different. They have a radius form to them to hold the fuel tank firmly up in place. I have a M1009 frame if you want some pictures. Let me know. But it would be easy enough if you removed the cargo bed.
Check the starter to ring gear engagement. Is it correct? It could be getting stuck out in the ring gear. It may need a shim between the starter and the mounting boss on the block. It could also be a 12 starter or starter solenoid. Also the DH relay can fail. I see Fords do it all the time. Ever...
Just when you think it is all done. I have a front drive shaft failure at the ball joint in the CV area. I sent the entire shaft out to Spicer to get rebuilt. The U joint in the area were still imbedded in plastic. They are the original ones. the U joints are still good it is the ball that...
I think JB7 is correct.
Really it is JB8 Part Number: NM1982 This is the Autozone part number for a new one. rebuilt is M1982. I use them they are good. No need to redesign and buy OEM. These are warranted for life and I seldom have any problems with them.
