    Gen 2 light stays on...

The gray wire goes to the center stud of the light socket and the black wire goes to the outer ring of the socket as the ground. that would NOT effect the problem you are having. That much I do know.

    Gen 2 light stays on...

I will step out and look at a donor vehicle in the balmy 21 degree weather.

    Gen 2 light stays on...

One wire goes to the center stud in the bulb socket. The black is the outer ground wire for the socket IMHO.

    Gen 2 light stays on...

Do you have a running CUCV near by? Do you have the voltage regulator plug in the correct way. Has someone replaced the plug and hooked up the wires to the wrong side. i had that already. If you have a good CUCV near by? Do some probing with a test light and some side by side comparisons. I am...

    Glow plug Reamer Question

M10x1.0 Never looked. i would have guessed a pipe thread size. Good to know. And you are 100% sure that is the correct size? If so he could drill out the center of a bolt and make a reamer if he so desired. But i would not want the drillings going into my combustion chamber.

You have a new cam in already. But you still have the old lifters in place? Am I hearing that correct? Have you replaced the cam bearings?

86 m1031 hard or no sart

That will work also. I just like to get a visual on them. I have had a few that had slight bulge and still worked. I discarded them and moved on to avoid future issues. I am strictly 13G AC Delco's. They have worked in my same vehicle for 20 years. Have i changed a few? Yes i did. But not many...

86 m1031 hard or no sart

Sounds like you possibly have bad glow plugs. The only way to know is remove them on a budget and bench test them. It will take about 20 minutes MAX. 1/4" ratchet 3/8" deep socket and remove them. Be careful. They may have bulged. I just dip the tip in a bit of oil or grease and use a small...

    M1028 light problems

Check the stop lamp fuse and the tension on the fuse holder to the fuse. And also use a test lamp and check if you have power going to the brake lamp switch. Easy switch to replace no tools required and less then $10. Autozone Part # DR496. Good Luck. Report back. DOT 5 is the correct brake...

M1009 CUCV The Life Of 'Trooper'

I said it before. Get Line X sprayed in. I done it to several M009's and 2 M1008's and my M1028. it was a huge improvement. It is a bit costly but beats any brush in liner I have seen and it sure beats layered insulation and a rubber mat or carpeting. After 10+ years of Line X on my M1008 plow...

    LED Off-road/work Lights

Old thread but I would like to add to it. Have you seen how inexpensive LED work lamps have become? Many set's on Amazon are less then $20. I added a few sets to all the forklifts at work and just bought 3 sets of the Truck lite LED universal snow plow lights. I will post some pictures later...

    1986 th400 Not Shifting Up/Late Shifting

I dropped mine off at the transmission shop and it sat for 3 days. The guy called me and said come pick up your truck it's done. One time it was my fault reversed the vacuum lines. Top to transmission and bottom to back of engine is correct. The second time he just adjusted the vacuum switch...

    Glow plug Reamer Question

It needs no cleaning. A CUCV 6.2 head is different then the description. It has a small pre-chamber. If the old plug came out. The new one will go right in. no problem.

How do I test the Glow Plug Controller?

If they are not getting power at the right time. Changing the glow plugs would have no effect. They need to be activated at the correct time for a correct start. Look and see if the voltmeter drops on start up while the wait light is on or you are activating the glow plugs. It will dip in the...

How do I test the Glow Plug Controller?

I would say watch the voltmeter. that will tell a lot. Sometimes I watch the voltmeter over the wait light. It will still be getting hot after the wait light goes out. I know its supposed to. But it does help sometimes. Even when the wait light does not come on after it is a bit warm. You can...

How do I test the Glow Plug Controller?

Are you checking if voltage is passing thru the firewall mounted relay and to the glow plugs? It is just that simple. Use a test lamp or a voltage meter. Report back.

    Glow plug Reamer Question

I have never heard of such a thing. I never had a problem putting them in. It was getting them out that was a challenge at times. A little grease on the threads and right in. No problem.

    Window won't roll up

On the same note. Oil and grease can do wonders on a window regulator. I have had them locked up and was able to revive many of them with a little motor oil and some chassis grease in the sash channels. Worth a try.
