Twas the day after Christmas and all thru the shop. It was raining outside and the yard was slop. The CUCV's were parked by the barn with care. In hopes that dry weather soon would be there. I am unable to post pictures. I made a lot of progress today on the Easter Find CUCV M1008. I will...
Thank you for the report back. Many times the crickets drive me crazy when people don't follow -up with the solution to the problem they presented to the group. Good follow-up report.
Did you get the vacuum pump out yet? And when you put it back in you can just drop it in that hole anywhere. You will still need to turn so the diaphragm does not touch anything. And with it against the firewall or close it can make a strange sound. But turn the crankshaft and it will pull it...
And that also. i have a bit of chatter and a buzz right after start up. been that way for years. it presents no problems. So till it does I just let it go. My Mule M1009 has the Cole Hersee relay on the firewall.
Yes that would be my guess also. The air cleaner lid may be loose. Many times the air cleaner suds are stripped and the nut can be stripped also. they tighten so far and then pop. Or the bottom part of the housing is cracked and making a vibrating sound. Also the vacuum pump could be touching...
Don't drill thru the front cab. It is double walled and you will just make a place for major rust and cribbage points. The rear cap is strong enough. When I ran crusher I could pick up a K5 body shell with the fiberglass top and the loader. Different story when the drive line was in. But my...
WOW this site is like a mortuary. I was out in the barn. I had the Kerosene heaters fired up. It is in the low 40's and very damp and raining outside. Things were warm, dry and toasty in the barn. I got a lot of work done today. Still had to deal with the menacing antifreeze leaking out at every...
Worse case scenario is you break it. But it needs to come out of there. If it fails when assembled. How will you get it out? See my point? Keep spraying it with PB blaster or something. I think it will come out. when you put it back in apply some never seize on the shaft that goes into the...
Hold the delivery nozzle with a 30mm wrench and use a 19mm wrench and turn the lines from the delivery nozzles. DO NOT cut them lines they are tuned to exact length and thickness. Put a vise grips on the shaft of the vacuum pump and get that sucker loose and out of there. Did you take the 1 M10...
Hunt her down and file a lawsuit against her. Or check and make sure your axle did not shift on the leaf spring centering pin during the hard braking. It's possible. Check closely. Have you re-torqued the axle U-bolts lately? Also check the front and rear drive shaft. Axle wrap can damage things...
Today I decided it was now or never. i had an extra day off of work and went out early and put the rear axle together. Put the cab back on the cab cart. Mounted the rear axle and also pushed the frame into the garage with the M1009 and the tow bar. Imagine my Son wanted to carry the back of the...
I was out working in my shop today and I thought about the brackets I mentioned for attaching things to the sides with out drilling the side panels. I had a few ideas and some brackets I made for another project. These would work for what you want to do. See how easy that would be? And on the...
Is this the one you need? And I would get that vacuum pump out of there now. If it were to go bad you would have to get it out with the entire engine assembled. Any progress to report? EGR is an emission system. These are exempt from emissions.
What pipes? The fuel injection lines will come out as an entire assembly with the fuel injection pump. You are now ready to removed the 2 nuts holding the oil fill tower in place. Hold the rear nut on the stud.( Another place a thin wrench comes in play.) Then pull the oil fill tower out of the...
I still have a running 1987 M1028 that you can drive home tomorrow. I am about 3 hours from Binghamton NY. I think Binghamton is in Broome County. Straight south I 81 exit 90 in Pennsylvania. Ready to go turn the key and start it up and be on your way. After you pay for it.
Use a 3/4" line wrench and take the injection lines from the delivery nozzles. Then remove the injection line clamps at the intake. Allow the rubbers to stay on the injection lines. It helps to have a thin kerf 15 MM wrench a on some of the studs that have nuts on the upper threads. If you get...
Just take all the return lines off. They have little PITA squeeze clamps. May I recommend a new kit and new return lines and clamps? Keep the old ones for spares and replace them with new. A lot easier. The stop plugs are usually the worst to get off and back on.
I thought about this over night. You could add a formed angle between the sides of the rear roof and the body. Sandwich 1 of the legs of the angle maybe aluminum/ stainless or galvaneal between the roof and the body side rail. You could add anything to the second exposed leg of the angle and it...
