I would probably start from scratch and go right at the engine and check everything. And I mean check have it checked or in question replace it. Messing gears have a lot of force and can bend and break things the naked eye cannot see. Everything has a breaking point and who knows what else has...
I would not see a problem with pulling all the lifters keeping them in order and putting a new cam in. That is provided the cam bearings are in great shape. That is a chance you will have to take. What is the problem with the current cam?
You are talking about that heavy duty spring that hold the 4WD lever over to the left as you shift it. So it is part of the floor 4WD shift lever assembly.
I think I have brand new GM plugs in the package yet. But I put my 4 X 4 away for the winter.(joking) I will look in spring.(joking) But on the one in the barn. It only has 1 plug/grommet on the left side. The one on the right is missing. I have several M1009 covers I am sure I can hook you up...
A few of the tools that I have been using. the wire wheels last about an hour and The gloves last about a week. Most of the wear on the gloves comes from torching and grinding. They sure save the hands. This time of year the compressed air is below freezing and the tools build up ice at times...
Today I worked at the axles. i put the front one in and it was time to get out the rear one. I wire wheels sanded and washed the axle housing. I sprayed the axle housing with The Iron Guard Krylon paint. It covers well and dries quickly. It seems to hold up well. i have used it on several other...
These are the old fuel tank brackets. i am going to strip them and clean them up. i am going to buy new straps and reuse the main frame brackets after I clean and paint them. I stripped down the backing plates and will clean and paint them tomorrow. I bought all new hardware ,wheel cylinders, E...
This is how I left my M1009 in the barn. I had to jack it up a few inches to fit the lumber under the M1009 truck. But it fit and will be out of the weather till I get around to changing the floor on the flat bed trailer. The engine is in excellent condition just a bit dusty. I spent the entire...
Could it be the caliper? The calipers are not expensive. But I am not sure that the proportioning valve would just effect 1 side. I only seen them go bad by leaking. But I guess it is possible. But I would try the caliper first. Less then $30. core was $25. last time I bought them. happy...
Is this spring inside the truck on the shifter indicator? Hardware stores have about 100 different springs in stock. They have a board that shows them. I buy the springs for the transmission bell crank selector and the pintle hook at the hardware store. I hope that helps. If it is a spring from...
Today I was out in the center bay of the barn working and started and ran my M1009 that I have been working/storing since the last century sometime. I did weld all the antenna holes shut on both sides of the body and will close the holes on the fiberglass top when I get that far. I put batteries...
Today I was involved in a lot of manual labor. Not really. My Son wanted to use a Bobcat to put the axle in. I wanted no part of that. very good way to get pinched. So I whispered a love sonnet and done everything with my youngest Son that has no mechanical experience at all. It took about 30...
That's NOT good. That will need to be corrected. I would think that the converter with 3 holes would be clocked differently and NOT line up with any of the diesel flex-plate holes. I never tried so I don't know. Good Luck. I hope for an easy fix. But I am doubtful. Report back. Happy Holidays.
That is why I ask. I seen the pictures in 66. But I thought that was just doing the prep/primer stage so the vehicle could be moved in and out. I was NOT trying to be a wise guy either. I also completely gut everything I can before I paint. But to each his own. I always found problem spots in...
You done good. That is the correct way. Thanks for reporting back. many times people ask for help and then all you get is crickets. Never hear back again.Happy Holidays.
The 6.2 diesel has 6 - M10 bolts from the torque converter to the flex-plate. I also believe the torque converter is internally different since the diesel engine does not run as high of RPM's as a gasoline engine. I am no expert on the subject. Lets see what Rusty Stud has to say. Happy Holidays.
If it were me. I would remove the calipers and use a 2" rolok disc and polish the caliper brackets at the mounting area and the calipers in the mounting contact grooves. I would either polish the wedge and filler or get a new one. I just put rebuilt calipers and new fasteners on the Easter Find...
