The voltage regulator is built into the "end cap" of the alternator. With the part number of the alternator you will be able to find a repair kit that replaces said end cap. Voltage regulator and alternator part number are your search terms. About $80. For an approximately similar price (maybe a...
I second welldigger's advice. A local truck/hydraulic shop had no problem cutting the old fittings out for re-use (or had new fittings on hand, I don't remember). New hose for chump change.
Driving with the engine at "normal" rpm instead of heading towards redline is very nice, indeed. My LDS is governed at 2500 rpm (should spin up to 2800; I guess the governor was set by a wise mechanic or motor pool SGT) and I am still too chicken to try what the actual top speed is. I feel that...
Many surplus dealers have military chains for little money - shipping adds to the price; they are heavy as you can imagine.
I hope that your truck leaks enough oil for self-protection of the undercarriage when you drive it on winter roads!
Mine was a Southern US truck and looks like it never...
No - that is the whole point of the air operated brake light switch. It replaces the switch on the hydraulic side. The hydraulically operated switch turned out to be a weak spot. If it cracks and breaks, you lose your brakes. That is why the military started replacing the hydraulic switch with a...
"cold start system" refers to either the flame start (original, old) or the ether start system (retrofit) operated by the toggle switch to the left of the steering wheel on the dash.
Oil viscosity is also important. 15W40 turns into molasses once temps drop below freezing. Takes quite a bit of...
Correct, although a **little** oil behind the square cover is not unusual.
I would put the following on my to-do list:
- order O-ring kit for the IP
- make new gasket for shutoff cover from gasket material (easy).
- check out oil supply and return hoses for the IP. If suspicious, take off and...
This bolt was conspicuously missing on my Deuce and, apparently, was treated as optional by many motor pool mechanics that did not want the aggravation....
I learned that I need to be very careful in diagnosing leaks on my multifuel. Clean the block, remove old trails of oil and start with a clean engine. Oftentimes the oil just pools and drips from a convenient low point but comes from somewhere else.
Compressor: yes, a simple 4 bolt mount with...
I wholeheartedly agree! However, Tom's OD kit allows me to get scared with my LDS at lower rpm than you! I still don't know how fast it would run if I let it. I recommend that OD mod to anyone with a healthy, turned up and pyrometered multi.
