I had my M715 on top of Soldier's Cap, it was muddy, slick and I felt sorry for the young man who got assigned to ride with me. He was pretty nervous when we hit the top. 8^) He made a comment about how good it climbed, then I told him if I knew the road was going to be that slick, I would have...

    Newbie from Utah!!

You missed some really nice ones that sold out there already, but I am sure there are more coming. I made a trip out earlier to recover one of my M1009s. Took the Amtrak out and drove her home. Gutsy or stupid, the jury is still out. At least I had a friend pick it up and drive it before I made...

slight knock on sub zero cold starts

The truck only has around 35,000 on it now, but they are 23 years old. For 140 dollars, I will probably do both. Thanks, Glen

slight knock on sub zero cold starts

Thanks Westy, I knew the hydro boost and let it roll out one ear. Anyway, I have some sort of problem there when it is extremely cold. They are very slow about recovering. I do drive very easy until it kick off, heck, I drive them very easy about all the time. Heavy pedal and extended idle time...

Today we fired up the old M1009 and headed out for the boys daily run. I decided to go east of town into the hills and take a couple of photos of a nearby landmark. The road we are on is the hill between the hills. The big dome is known locally as the Iron Mound. The Iron Mound is visible for...

slight knock on sub zero cold starts

I am betting it is normal. All of mine knock louder on cold start up than the rest of the year. The pump not only fast idles, it advances too, so your initial fire up and up until the fast idle kicks off is louder. One of my M1009s is significantly louder than the other two as was my original...

    Identity Please: International trucks

We had four stacked up like that rolling through here. I really wanted photos, but got sent on a call. By the time I got back, they were gone. Maybe the same bunch Jeff saw at Riley.

    M1028 Pricing ?

That would be a great deal for a M1028 in good condition with low miles around here. They are hard to come across here! We had four civilian owned M1008/M1028 trucks here that I know of. I still have one, my first one got totalled out, the Mounted Patrol had two and they sold one, which the kid...

Not sure if this is one, but a couple of air boys came into Salina in it, windows rolled up, air conditioning running. It was over 100 degrees outside. I followed them several miles. I parked my M1008 next to it and managed to grab these cell photos. I apologize for their quality. They swapped...

    M1028 Pricing ?

Sweet... That sounds like a deal. I would hate to sell my M1008 for that. I could, but I would not like it. 8-)

    My first parade

A deuce or 5 ton is a treat to drive in a parade compared to a Model T. That holding the low gear pedal down all the way through makes for an aching thigh, not to mention all the stops as the T seems to need a little rpm to keep from getting involved in the bucking game. I have been in a lot of...

    Dual Fuel Tanks

42 gallons would weigh around 300 pounds. I doubt that would make a noticeable ride height difference in a M1008 or M1028. That tank would be much better protected ahead of the pickup rear cross member than the Blazer.

removing vavle covers: what else to do?

Make sure somebody before you has not gone "Gorilla" on the valve covers and over tighten the nuts/bolts. Some guys think tighter will squeeze the gasket and stop the leak. What they do is bend the rails on the cover in the area of the bolts. On a small/big block Chevy, they are easy, flip the...

New 4" lift and 35s on my m1008

2627 at 60 with a 35" tall tire, not figuring loss due to tire squash or loaded radius. I am guessing you are not losing much radius. I can see running 60 on those tires, it is a little high on the rpm scale, but the 6.2 might live there. It sure makes for a nice looking rig though. Glen

    Dual Fuel Tanks

I would think adding a M1009 tank to the rear would be a great increase in fuel capacity. You would have to move the spare though. It is takes around 8 hours to burn one full tank of fuel, what kind of long off road adventure are you planning for?

    For you M109 people

That's great! Looks like a fine home grown camper....

    Never seen this before

That is definitely cool... I would like to have one myself..

whats a good price for this m1009?

The OK trucks were really nice looking, almost like they had been stored inside. I would say 5,000 to 6,000 should about knock out any M1009. All it takes is two guys that really want a nice one to temporarily drive the price up. Glen

M1028 shuddering and other possible problems

You really should not go spouting off to Doghead like that if you really need help. He is very knowledgeable in the CUCV trucks and will go out of his way to help a member. He is trying to keep the forums from being polluted by attention getting threads. There are many of us here that would be...
