M101a2 grease cap and hub question

For troublesome screws use 50/50 mix of Acetone and ATF. I have it in a squirt bottle in my shop for just such an occasion. I also have an impact driver for screws too. ;-)

    Help Identifying Alternator

Do what I and others have done. Just put a civi Delco style on and be done with it. I can go through a lot of $106 civi ones before I can touch a new military version. AHADR0009 http://www.psep.biz/store/delco_alternator.htm And TM America bracket or brackets. M35 or M809 series trucks.

Threatened fail on state inspection no cats

I'm ticked because I have 5 cats. None of them are on any of my trucks. This is one time I'm glad I don't live in Texas. In Ohio they did away with the EPA smog emissions testing to renew your registration. A smart state move for a change. Every time I took a vehicle in they didn't say...

    R.I.P.--TIGGER--Matthew Helms

I remember Matt's first time at the GA Rally just like Poppop, right after Matt's truck accident. He sure made an impact on the SS family the short time he was with us. Rest In Peace Marine, Rest In Peace.

Prius pulling. A recovery of sorts.

I love a good recovery story. At least I used a Dodge Hemi to pull my Deuce and 105 when the crankshaft broke. If a Prius takes off on the electric part then an electric motor develops its max torque then. Good job and well done on the field expedient repair. Now trade the car off before it...

    454 for power in an '85 m1009

I say do it. You are comfortable with gas engines vs diesel. As a kid I did a lot of swaps of engines and transmissions but nothing 4x4. Get the 454 breathing good and you'll have quite a bit of power.
