    M1165a1 power steering and overheating

If unplugging the TDM which causes the fan to run all the time "fixes" the overheating then you have an issue with the fan control system. Most of the new parts out there are Chicom crap including thermal switches, this is one of the big issues with just throwing parts at a truck instead of...

    Gauge lights

Are they actually marked 24V? many sellers are selling 12V as 24V knowing they will usually last until it is too late to return them. An LED should last indefinitely

    Gauge lights

I have put arrows pointing to the lenses, they should only be finger tight, you will most likely need to clean the lenses and also pull the instrument cluster out of the dash and clean the windows on each gauge. There are plastic windows on the body of the gauges that allow the light to...

Missing plastic ductwork of some kind on M1165

One of the good hits (there are some returns that are not useful like "parts target" or "WB parts") was HPG, only $211. You can also put a WTB in the classifieds and see if you can pick up a used one.

Missing plastic ductwork of some kind on M1165

So now Google that number, also Google the NSN number, you will likely get different hits

    Gauge lights

Also if someone replaced the lamps with LEDs there will be no difference in how bright they are, the "dimmer" simply inserts a resistor in series with the lamps, the LEDs do not pull enough current to cause a voltage drop across the resistor thus dimming the lights. There are two lenses above...

Missing plastic ductwork of some kind on M1165

There is always someone here that will try to help. But downloading and learning how to use the TMs is VERY beneficial, it will help you understand your HMMWV much better

Missing plastic ductwork of some kind on M1165

I THINK this is the one. https://www.nsnlookup.com/equipment-intelligence/land/hmmwv/technical-manual/tm-9-2320-387-24p There is a later version of this TM out there, just not sure about its status.

    Gauge lights

Have you pulled the lenses and cleaned them? also have you pulled the instrument cluster and cleaned the light windows in the gauges? The lenses give the color the lamps are clear.

Time to get the meter out and do some troubleshooting, are you getting power to the dimmer switch? And yes LEDs can make a difference but if it is a problem it would only affect that side, the other side should still work. I went and looked at the switch, the one shown at least looks OEM. I...

White or Blue smoke after it warms up?

It still does not sound like you have enough miles on it to pass judgment yet, It will take some time at with real load to cook out the oil and water in the exhaust, and to make sure the rings and seals have enough time to line themselves up, you are not going to build enough heat in the...

One of the first things you want to do is change all fluids and filters, it is cheap insurance! Inspect all the half shafts, the boots as well as the inboard bolts, all the steering and suspension components for correct/tight fasteners If you plan on driving it on the highway you will likely...

The aluminum body is not used for grounding, all grounds find there way back to a few tie points, one is behind the instrument panel. it goes through the aluminum body with a bolt to a harness connection on the other side of the fire wall, there and the back of the engine are good places to...
