    Generator removal question

That small spark is caused by a conductive path inside the starter switch.

    M38A1 questions

Definitely worth a look. Yes the '64's were USMC and had lockers supposedly. The V6 is easily undone and the setup with bellhousing adapter etc will be in demand by someone building a flat fender CJ. Plenty of F134 engines around still. Edit: other USMC specific items are the "airlift"...

    Anybody recognize this "Pickle" Forklift?

Anybody that has a pickle forklift with the 4BT upgrade, be advised the fuel solenoid is 12 volts, I put 24 to it and nearly caught the thing on fire when the solenoid and harness burned up. EDIT: BAD INFO above, the solenoid is 24 volts, stupid me jumped the pull in wire to constant volts...

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

Nope not a RRAD install. Remember when during the Gulf Wars, the army came out with a version of the Red Dot HMMWV A/C unit for the 915s. It was 100% 24 volt including those two pancake fans. DUH that promptly burned out all the transformer/rectifier alternators on these trucks and led to the...

    I'm new to Deuce world.

That is the chassis vent, all the gear cases and axles vent to that point, and yes, supposed to have filter material in there. I just looked at the LO and nothing real special about it, 85W90 gear oil in the axles and transfer, good EP grease in the zerks and wheel bearings.

    New LMTV owner with gremlins

Most every FMTV gremlin has been dealt with on this forum, the two you REALLY want to pay attention to are the old style fan rubber fan mount, which comes apart and sends the fan into the radiator; and driveshaft play at the spline joint, vibration from which causes the accessories to be shed...

new to forum and military vehicles

Welcome. As long as you have a pretty good body, 715s are about as easy to restore as they come, and still fit in your garage. I love mine.

    Generator removal question

Check the filter capacitor at the bottom of the regulator, maybe it has no continuity. They are old.

    New to me HMMWV

55 mph in second gear? Don't think that is possible. The poor 6.5 is approaching 3000 rpm in 3rd at 60.

towing a new to me trailer from govplanet pickup location

Most states have some kind of 72 hour permit paper tag that you can purchase inexpensively from the DMV with only a VIN number.

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

Yup spiking is advance warning of about to catch fire. You can remove the transformer rectifier box and be left with a perfectly good and reliable 12 volt alternator.
