    My new M1009!

I like it.... get tired of it... maybe my driveway needs three! Thanks for your service, glad you are coming home. Glen

    CUCV questions.

These guys covered it pretty well.... if you want to get into axle deep gumbo and spin a set of 38" tires 40 to 60 mph to keep the tread clean, you have the wrong engine. That is big block power and nothing does it better. If you are like me and try to avoid the super deep soft mud and prefer...

    CUCV questions.

The 6.2 can do a fairly decent job off road, you just need to learn to use the low side of the transfer case more frequently than a BBC. One thing I always appreciated about the 6.2 was a very flat torque curve. They do not get to a point then light the tires up. I would say their main weakness...

Any one knows of a M35 bed on a CUCV?

In this case, I think it would be easier to use the Deuce box as a pattern and build one out of tubing and iron. To make it look clean, you would need to cut a strip out of both sides lengthwise and both ends width wise. Maybe you could get away with removing a entire section length wise...

Waiting on a M817 with winch by chance???

I do not know, but I would expect a lot less tire scrubbing from the large singles than we have from the tandem duals. Looks to me like they would make the truck less bound up steering on hard surfaces, or less likely to push the front tires. I would also think we would suffer a little power...

That actually is not a bad plan. I should go out and grab the dying railroad depots, rural churches, old barns, stone houses, horse drawn equipment.... and assemble a tourism book. If I ever do, I will have to send you a copy!

Waiting on a M817 with winch by chance???

Bruce, it sure looks like it would. I would love to have a 5 ton on those tires, but I want a 4x4 version.... (slap me now) with a shortened deuce bed. I would like to get a M818 and cut a corner out of the bed when we shorten it for the spare tire mount, then squaring up the front of the box by...

Waiting on a M817 with winch by chance???

Yes, it is covered with salt or that calcium magnesium acetate solution that some states, including Kansas are using. Either way, it needs to be washed off as soon as possible with lots of pressure and hot soapy water.

Waiting on a M817 with winch by chance???

The photo of just the tires has my billfold between them. It would not pass through and it was not because I had a large roll of cash in there, wish I did. I wonder how much they scrub against each other in mud. Not the tires themselves, but the opposing balls of mud.

Waiting on a M817 with winch by chance???

We saw this nice looking M817 on a Smoth Operators Truck in Southeastern Missouri, along US 54. It was not as long as I expected. It was on singles, 16.00X20s. Nice truck, wish it was coming to my place. Glen

Ooopppppss forgot the Drywood monument..... Sorry about the empty post, I forgot the Drywood Battle sign.... We passed by many, many salvage yards that I would have loved to stop and visit. It is amazing what you can see looking through the leafless trees in the Ozarks while running 50mph...

Bushwhackers Museum, Nevada Missouri We stopped by here and will have to return when it is open. The museum appears like it would be wonderful! I found a marker here that had George W. Bush on it... a little ahead of his time though. The museum also referred to the Battle of Drycreek, only...

M817!! We were screaming along at about 45mph through a small town in Missouri, much later than I wanted to be running and what do I pass??? A M817 on a trailer in a small lot off the highway. A quick stabbing of the brakes and a U-turn made the wifey ask what I saw... It did not take long for...

Woodson County Courthouse and War Memorial In Yates Center, Kansas resides a beauty of an old courthouse. We went down and attended their centennial celebration a few years ago. The building stands testament to the decisions made over 100 year ago. It can be found just north of US 54 in Yates...

National Cemetery #1 Thanks! He is beyond sweet! He never stepped back from my Shepherds and never cowered. He never barked and never growled, he has a wonderful personality. I am quite sure he will be spoiled rotten. We stopped by the National Cemetery at Fort Scott, it is both south and...

Fort Scott, Kansas We made a few stops along the way, one of which was the beautiful old military Fort Scott, in Fort Scott, Kansas. This Frontier Fort was built in the early 1840's as part of the Wetern Frontier. Following a series of peace treaties, the US military ran the Native Americans...

We needed a pickup for a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks and because my Dodge now has no paint on it, my M1008 got the call. My wife just would not get out of bed, saying she did not feel good and did not want to get to her mother's too early....so we got a late start. That cut into a lot of my...
