Hard to shift OUT of 3rd.

The tranny can stay in place but the mainshaft has to come out and be completely disassembled to inspect those parts. G.

Hard to shift OUT of 3rd.

To put 2nd-3rd collar IN gear (either one) you will need some strong fingers from both hands; but you should be able to pull it OUT of gear easily just with your two little fingers and maybe a bit of wiggling... I suspect you have a deformed or even cracked sleeve as TulsaME described, and...

Need detailed engine bay photographs, please.

As already stated, that is the fuel supply line to the flame heater. It goes to the filter inlet port. I added a simple diagram, below.... G.

5 ton mf power steering pump on m35a2

Hard to tell .... does it look like the one in post #36? Did it come with the adapter flange and gear? Those two parts are the specific, hard to find items - not the pump itself, which you can find new for $150 (ebay) I would open the pump cover for inspection, look for signs of wear and also...

    Deuce Adaptor Plates

:???:.... why 6.75" if 6.450 - 6.455" would have been enough? (That already IS a highly stressed area there, that close to the lug nut holes, no need to further weaken it, IMHO) Some dimensions for your reference: hub O.D. = 6.38" +/- 0.005"; front & rear axle drive flange O.D. = 6.42"+/-...

    Deuce Adaptor Plates

    That's a good start![thumbzup] (And that's not a 8.5" hole there... :-) ) G.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

This continues to be a mystery.... Checked X-many rocker arms in my pile of (takeout)engine spare parts and also pulled valve covers of three different engines this morning: a LDS427-2; a 5ton LDS465-1A and a LDT465-1C. All are Continentals, in perfect working order, depot-rebuilt between '89...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

Different part number is FACT. Different ratio is only a THEORY! ... until someone could measure both and confirm... (I may have to check on mine, tomorrow...) G.

    Winch pto backlash?

Yes, using a relatively thick gasket it basically IS a bolt on procedure. BUT you need to make sure there is a little play left between both gears after install! Many ways to skin the cat..... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/26819-backlash-m35a2-pto.html#post564482 G.

    rare size for rear axles

.... so should we all start measuring ours, for general peace of mind....?:-) I would really hate seing your truck "returned" and who knows, maybe they wouldn't even want it back - if it came out of specs?????:p G.

    Pressing Torque Rod Ends In/Out

Often... yes, good advice....... but please be specific here: the OP was referring to the TORQUE ROD END BUSHINGS... and how to replace them! FYI the eyes on the Deuce dogbones are perfectly cylindrical, I.D. measuring 3.123" (+/- .0005") and the sleeved ends should be 3.124" to 3.125" O.D...

    wheel bearing #'s help

YES Bearing cones #3994 and #392 have nothing in common, except maybe the material and that they can run on the same race or cup #3920, as well as about 20 other different bearings....! (Find the ones mentioned in the Timken products catalog, pages B108 and B116, respectively) You mean there...

..... because it is the wrong color!!!! :p Seriously, looks impressive! (besides that A3 nose of course, and the "mirror head-less" brackets....) G.

    rare size for rear axles

Hola José, I guess that would be for the axle differential reduction ratio.... which coincidentally is 6.72:1 .......:-) as for the different distance: did you measure between hub flanges or just the brake backing plates? 1cm would be a lot, in the first case! G.

M35A1 LIVES, finally. vid link to the event

Ron: possible but... you are assuming someone would simply assemble it that way and install without previously test-rotate the pump.....??? G.

Gimpy: wish I could tell you more about these... Only know for sure that all code B; C; D; E & F pump heads come with the shorter plunger shaft. Not sure about the HD90111A (--> code" A" pump, 8x8 LDS465-2) For the "G" code IP the book really only shows two HHs: one is the HD9065A, the other...
