I had an M813A1 with the same problem. I replaced the gauge and the sending unit and never fixed the problem. For some reason, it appeared that it was warming up on the gauge twice as fast (and warm) as it really was. I did the same thing...checked the motor with a laser temperature gauge and...

Hmmm...come to think of it...that might be the hi/lo heater control switch. If it is, I've never seen one mounted there. Pretty cool.

Beautiful truck. Good luck and congratulations. I believe that is a warning light (convoy light) switch. Check to see if there are any remnants from the convoy light kit. That is the same switch and data plate that is in my wrecker.

I can tell you that it is difficult to get that new wire rope (cable) to seat correctly. Be careful. Test it out before you try winching. If the wire rope comes loose while under load, watch out. You literally could be cut in half.
