Bobbed engine swap and hydo powersteering

There is something Zen-like to looking at a fresh crate motor.

    Canadian Lic. suggestions

Don't count on the MTO caring one bit that the truck is for PERSONAL use, NOT COMMERCIAL. If it is over 4500 kg, they want to see the yellow sticker on it. If you have the yellow sticker, you will safety it annually and you will e-test it annually. Get the picture? The MTO looks at your 40...

    LDT-465 in a daily driver?

It is actually built from a CCKW frame flipped upside down - so plenty strong! Video: '35 Dodge/'44 Troop Carrier Rat Rod - Street Legal TV Forums It looks....somehow way cool.

    A Puzzlement

Turn signal control module u/s. Recommend removing turn signal assembly from steering column, open up and clean/lube contact surfaces and re-mount. Replace turn signal module located under hood. I hear that high resistance due to corroded contacts in turn signal assembly causes the under hood...

engine braking good or bad ?

I know the part of the -20 manual regarding downshifting and engine braking. I also respectfully submit that the context of (maybe inexperienced, maybe careless) eighteen year old conscripts operating the trucks is important when reading SOME of the passages in the TM. Even the girl with the...

engine braking good or bad ?

You know, the setup you describe is the standard setup in Euro trucks, including military. I learned on it, so I am used to it and for me the automatic exhaust brakes are still disconcerting. I would much prefer the foot valve for the butterfly valve in my truck. To get back on topic, I do not...

    Conservative max weight ratings

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/10081-27-700-lbs-deuce.html I agree with what was said above. It is one thing to find the weight that finally buckles the frame, but how much can the brakes and suspension handle? How much can they handle safely? I also remember a picture of a deuce that...

Diamond in the Rough, or Rough cut Diamond

To answer your question, diamond in the rough or rough cut diamond, it can be either. You received a lot of suggestions what to look for, but a truck parked somewhere in the wild for 10 years is anyone's bet. May fire right up with new batteries or may have major issues. Forest creatures and...

    Canadian members and their Vehicles.

Ifta Canadian colleagues, I read this thread (and other, similar ones) and post here, seeing how we do not have a Canada forum. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/67858-fuel-sticker-viloation-nc-10.html Most provinces/territories are part of the IFTA agreement (here is Ontario...

Civy wiper conversion with OD paint

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/56882-plastic-air-wiper-motors-repair-how.html#post658474 I had really bad experiences with compressor oil (air tool oil) and the rubber O rings in the motors. I recommend silicone spray (or maybe vaseline).

Has anyone here had fuel stolen?

I was thinking about a locking fuel cap, too. However, the thieves appear to punch tanks more and more now. They take what they can and leave the rest spilling all over the place. Maybe having fuel sucked off through the open cap beats a hole in the tank, and driveway/soil contamination in...

    10 Ton M125 Repaint

I really am just curious and hope that my question comes across as a question, and not as trying to be a wisecrack. When I looked at the marvellous copper plumbing you did for the brakes, I was asking myself if there was a particular reason why you would not substitute 2 (or 4) spring brake...

    Deuce work never ending?

Generally, "fill to spill" is no longer recommended. The correct fill level is when you stick your finger into the oil fill hole and the level is one knuckle down from the fill hole. This avoids unnecessary leaks.

Is this the right crimping tool

how to use the Daniels tool I have used cheapo crimpers in automotive applications forever, and never liked the results (so I solder a lot of my connections). I obtained a Daniels AF-8 crimper, as shown in the pics above, with turret. I cannot figure out how to use this thing correctly with...

    Pinzgauer 718

I can only add to this from a driver's perspective, and even then only to the ambulance version. The 2.4 liter VW diesel is a good powerplant for the Pinz. It is basically the same engine found in 240 and 740 series Volvo diesels from the 1980' and the European VW LT transporters. It is an...

Having some leak issues need some help

Have the same or a very similar issue. Truck has done that since I got it two years ago. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/45159-engine-top-front-oil-leak-question.html I decided to keep a head gasket set at home, research the head gasket job and keep driving the truck as long as everything...
