you mean something like this?
there are upper crossmembers as the upper subframe is a welded structure.
If I recall correctly the tape measure was hooked at the rear end of the upper frame.
all the LMTV’s have 2 frame rails/upper subframe. the upper frame is configured for the specific...
Cool! Pulsing in a relay/solenoid circuit is usually a weak/high resistance connection In the circuit. A weak connection will pass full voltage until the load draws current. Then the restriction/ resistance will cause the voltage to drop(like a kink in a hose). Because of the way coils draw...
Fuel solenoid should be an on/off response just like when you turn off the switch.
Bogging sounds like fuel supply/air. You need to connect a pressure gauge to the T on the inlet to the secondary fuel filter(between filter and governor) and measure the primary fuel pressure. Should be 20@...
sounds like a good idea, but in the end there is only one system that generates power on the truck, and you have swapped half of it… have you measured for AC ripple on the DC outputs?
The important thing to note is the difference in internal resistance between standard wet cell and AGM.s thats why AGM’s put a far greater load(nearly double) on the alt During bulk charging.
The reasons they give for deficit charging are spot on, but they missed a solution. Reduce/properly...
Two batteries in series… Take a battery(lets call it battery #1) and connect the ground lead to the - terminal. Take a second battery(battery #2) and connect a jumper cable from the + terminal of #1 to the - terminal of #2. Connect the 12v lead at either end of the jumper. the last +...
A pair of group 27’s or 31’s wherever it is at… if I am concerned with starting in the cold, i will take steps to mitigate that instead of oversizing the battery.
Cat specs a pair of 31’s for the equipment that uses these engines…
The problem with 4 batteries is that they are difficult to...
That line on pin B is for the remote alternator status LED in the dash. You should be able to see it using the lamp test button on the dash.
the battery disconnect light is driven directly by the disconnect relays. So if it is on the batts are being disconnected. there are 2 ways to...
Along the lines of lubricity, this has been an issue with the HEUI system on the lube oil side As well. The spool valves that control the flow of high pressure engine oil into the injector need to open and close precisely. This has been a known issue with power stroke owners(Ford licensed HEUI...
The ECU doesn't monitor lift/baseline fuel pressure. You can do it with a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge kit and one 1/4M-1/8F npt adapter. I have one hooked up in one of my fuel system videos on utube. I squeeze the poly line to take the pulsations out for a stable reading.
I am not...
Put a gauge on the primary fuel pressure test point. Should be 25 at idle up to 60 at RPM. If the primary pressure is stable while it’s surging, then it is probably not fuel related. Got anyone in your area with a compatible scanner. It could be the High pressure oil regulation scheme is...
Well the A1 with the 3126 engine, like all EFI engines has dedicated cam and crank sensors to generate RPM and timing info so the ECU can fire the injectors.
That RPM info from the ECU will be available on the data buss, I have seen OBD type tachometers, but not sure what would be required to...
Well I am sure some of the degradation is also due to drying out/dry rot. like putting silicone grease on O-rings, an additive might help with this but wether it would interfere with it’s intended purpose by breaking down friction or reducing durometer would be an unknown until it is tried.
