Thought about the same......
If anyone finds this style pin (pic) holding the brake shoe in place - replace it with the new style hold-down hardware! See this old thread (sticky) here: View topic - Brake Inspections and Warnings :: Steel Soldiers :: Military Vehicles Supersite

YES, try to restore/re-glass your own anytime before buying one of those Chin-POS aftermarket replacements! (Save time and money..... lesson learned the hard way...., detail pics and comparative drawings available....)
It takes common 6mm laminated WS-glass, cut to 684x425mm. Either clean...
I guess we will see an endless list of alternative uses for parts...! Recycle, re-use, etc.
For example Deuce suspension shackles W/bushings & bolts plus front bumper brackets are good ingredients for (dump) hinges...

Yes, solvent and heat, alternatively, until no more oil comes up to the surface.

Zippered or not, grease helps seating /distributing the outer rubber lipp evenly around - and fully down into the knuckle's groove for better sealing and also prevents later rust building from moisture trapped. Also the clamp must be able to slip in the boot's groove. If installed dry the outer...

Not saying it can't be fit: friction surface of the flat gasser flywheel is 15"net so it could be redrilled to...
If that bad it did seal at times.... (!?), I would try restoring its face a bit... which isn't complicated at all with a lathe or drill press, fine sandpaper (start with 500 end 1500) and some patience. (Done that many times to restore air governor, horn solenoid, fuel shut-offs, etc.)
