Can these heads be planed? Reason I ask this is I know you can get into trouble on some diesel heads planing them because the piston comes so close to the top. I've never had the heads off of a multifuel so I don't know.
I thought I wanted a set of the stock batteries untill I priced them. $169 a piece for Deka 6TLs from my local battery store . Decided to go with a set of 1100 CCA "regular" truck batteries which was $129 for the set.
I'd like to have a set of stock batteries but not for almost 3 times...
No, it was mounted quite a bit lower than the compressor. To be honest I really don't remember the details. If I were going to add one to the deuce I'd build a tank, find a place to mount it, and try it out to see how it works. While I don't remember the details, we just kind of threw it all...
You will never get everybody around hear to agree on the A2,A3 debate. Some love them , others hate them.
I don't care too much for them myself but it's mainly because of price. IMO an A3 is not worth the price difference over an A2. If they were closer to the price of an A2 I might would buy...
As long as it's not red you're ok here in the US.
In the US most states (if not all) have road taxes added to the fuel. You can buy non-taxed fuel to use for off-road use because if you're not running it on the road you're not required to pay road taxes. To try and keep people from running...
It's been several years ago and I don't recall. Seems like it was a small air tank of some sort and I had to weld in all of the fittings. Whatever you use it needs to hold atleast a quart and have some air space at the top so you only get vapor downstream.
I got the idea from an old Mack...
I know a guy that got a ticket for that. He tried to explain to the officer that it was ATF but he didn't care. Said if he sticks the tank and it comes up red you WILL get a ticket and it will be up to you to defend it in court. He did get it thrown out in court but he had to hire a lawyer and...
I have built them.
You need some sort or tank that can withstand 120psi and a removeable top to add the alcohol. Run the line comming off of the compressor to the bottom of the tank. Have the outlet line in the top of the tank. When in operation the air will bubble up through the alcohol and...
Did you buy the truck as a running/driveable truck? If so I'd be asking the seller to supply me with a trans. Sounds like they didn't put the oil back in after they removed the winch or didn't install the cover correctly (no gasket or loose bolts) and all the oil leaked out.
Bjorn, You brought back some good memories with those pics. It's a shame it's all gone. Accually pretty suprising that they could get rid of all of it as fast as they did. Howard and Buddy are good people but Buddy never did care for the stuff like Howard did. He saw the chance to make some...
I was there about a year ago and they were loading up the last of it. There was some trailers still behind his shop (the background of the pic) and a few containers with mostly junk around the shed but that's about it. He had a 5-ton winch and a 45,000lb wrecker rear winch that he had pulled out...
I've got a high-pressure steam cleaner. You can't beat it for removing grease and oil. It will even take the paint off if you're not careful. Adding the steam works much better than a standard pressure washer.
I built one for myself and was planning on building them to sell. I built and sold one to dpsmith but after building one to sell I realised that I have more money in them than what they will bring on an open market. I sold the one to dpsmith for $350 ( market value IMO) and there really isn't...
I don't recall the title fee but it's minimal. What they will hit you with is tag and wheel tax fees for the county you register it in. Unless you're a dealer you can't get a title in TN without registering and buying tags (state law). In D1CKSON county it cost me a little over $100 for a title...
Amen WM. This is the most back and time saving tool you can own for working on big trucks. Sure, you can get by without it but the difference is like loading a dumptruck with a shovel versus a frontend loader.
I just place a 6X6 block of wood under my bottle jack and may run the screw out a little. Don't forget to get some heavy jackstands also because it's not safe to work under a truck supported by the jack only .
:ditto:
The hybrid 12/24v system the CUCVs have will not work right with a single 24v alternator.
There are ways to make a single 24v alternator work but it would be more complicated than the system it already has.
I've got a 20 ton bottle jack for changing tires and such and a forklift for the bigger stuff.
I'd say you could get by with a little less than a forklift ;-). I'm thinking about building a rolling gantry with a chain hoist myself which will make it a little easier to pull engines and trans by...
That statement is a little misleading. Only very few of the M35A2Cs have dual circuit brakes. The latest model ones only.
I've got a 1972 M35A2C and it has single circuit brakes.
