So you are saying the oil pump on a 6.2 is a piston pump and not a gear pump? I've never been into a GM diesel but every other GM engine I've been into had a gear pump. I'm not saying you're not right because I don't know but it just seems odd to have a piston type oil pump.
Can't argue with you on the ease of operation with hyd. I was just letting you know your options.
Don't know much about the A3 other than it is the A2 winch with a hyd motor installed.
Yes, the stock winch is rated 10,000 but is more than capable. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples...
Try not to worry about it because it's out of your control. It's just your government and GL hard at work . You have done all you can do on your end so now it's up to them.
One more thing . Some pumps have relief valves built in and others do not. Most are adjustable but some you have to change the spring to change them. The relief valve is what will control your max operating pressure.
Are you dead set on a hyd winch? if not you can get into a PTO winch alot cheaper than what you are talking about. Factory PTO winches go for around $1,000 for everything needed to make it work. Hyd would be more user friendly though. I think you could also get a deuce winch and connect a hyd...
Have you looked at where you're going to mount the pump and belt routing? A PTO driven pump would cost more if you bought a new pump but used pumps can be found very reasonable that are under old dumptrucks. I'm going to run a pump off a t-case PTO to power my dump. I got the pump with the hoist...
Have you thought about putting the aux. box behind the t-case. Would make fitting it a lot easier. The down side would be you'd have to have a air-shift t-case and make sure the box was in direct any time the front end is engaged.
You will need a remote spool valve. If you are running the winch and the dump you will need two (one for each). A solenoid valve would work also (you can get spool valves that work off of solenoids). Depending on how much you winch and how big your oil tank is you may can get away without...
I've heard of them taking missing items off another truck to replace what is missing in some cases. Could be off somebody elses truck though . I think the offical resonse in to just void the sale. There has been a few people that GL made it right on damages but there has also been people...
I don't really know anything about any of the pumps but the electric one. Electric will build all the pressure you'd ever need but they are slow. Hyd winches are slow anyway compared to PTO winches and with an electric pump It's going to be even slower. The 2 GPM listed on the electric pump in...
If you have enough hands :-D. I like driving the old Macks though. It takes some practice to shift the range stick, shift the gear shift, and hold her in the road all at the same time.
Closer gear spacings would help a lot over the stock 5 speed. The 3053 has a big jump between 3rd and 4th which really hurts when loaded. I've got a 10 speed and have thought about the swap but it's going to be quite a chore to get it in there so I don't know if it's worth the trouble. Not only...
