I was thinking Ryder bob tail truck. To get a 923/dolly/van semitrailer combination to where the commercial vehicle enforcement boys leave you alone will be a huge chore.
The issue with just about all military van trailers is that they are spring ride. Your possessions will be beaten to death. I have a 129 and it's dock height at the rear door, making for difficult loading. Ryder trucks would be my suggestion.
Try this for your upshifts: Just let off the throttle enough to remove power, then shift. Seems better than coming completely of the throttle like a manual.
An option is to remove the ramps and spacer and mount the stock Kompensator to the frame, and swap the plate to a 2" Holland. There is a old thread here on the p/n of the plate (available new).

You could buy an entire Caiman chassis with the unsupported Meritor suspension from member "Midway". He has about 30 of them, Eastern Surplus has some as well.
