The intake manifold on a multifuel does have water circulating through it. Some say it's for cooling the air but others have said it's to warm the air in cold weather. I have thought if you could disconnect the manifold from the engine coolant and add a heat exchanger with a circulating pump and...
The guy may be talking about Oliver tractors. Some of them had the same engine in them minus the multifuel capability.
Lowering compression could be as easy as adding a spacer between the head and the block and longer push rods.
Custom cams aren't as expensive as everybody thinks. I got a cam...
Jwaller (I think it was him) has water injection on his truck and offers the kits for sale. Don't know what the hp is but he says it has lots of power. The main problem with the LDT is EGTs. If you can control EGT (which water injecton will help) you can make lots of hp just by turning the fuel...
XM211, You can't bid at the last minute at a GL auction. It's impossible to do. You can bid at the last minute of the closing time but it will extend it 15 min. The closest you can bid to the end is 15 min.
I'm in TN and running farm tags. I looked at all my options and antique tags were just too restrictive. Any time I haul a load on my truck it's going to "the farm".
I've seen big rigs with air start for years. Advantage is it turns the engine over faster in cold weather. Disadvantage is that once the system gets some age on it and develops small leaks you can find youself with no air to turn the starter after the truck has sat awhile.
Sealed bids is just a way to get people to pay way more than the next highest bidder. About the only way to bid is to enter all you're willing to pay and let it ride. It may be best that you don't know the bid results because you could have been the only bidder or several $100 the next closest...
Are your bolts stripping or are the captured nuts spinning? What I do is if the nuts start spinning I hold the nut with some vice-grips. On installation I just go back with a standard nut. There are some bolts that you have no access to the back side though. If that happens I've been known to...
Air-over-hyd systems could be called air-activated-hyd. You remove the air pressure and the brakes won't work at all because there is no air to activate them. In a air-assist-hyd system (as in the deuce) the brakes will still work but will be hard to apply enough pressure without the air. The...
To me 5th gear isn't the problem. The problem is the wide jumps between gears IMO. I'm no speed demon so the stock od is fine with me but I sure wish I could find another gear between 3rd and 4th when loaded.
You don't call most passenger vehicles built today "vacuum over hyd". I've never read in a manual where they called a system "vacuum over hyd". The deuce system is basicly the same as a vacuum boosted system. Only difference is the deuce uses air pressure instead of vacuum to boost the pressure.
Here's a thread that pretty well covers all the SS research that has went into the makeup of deuce shear pins.

Around the time of WWII almost all vehicles were 6 volt. I know I've changed many old tractors that were 6v over to 12v. Makes all the difference in the world. I just figure going to 24v is just that much better.
