    Deuce brakes

Jake, you explained it much better than me :-D. What kind of trucks had air-over-hyd? I've never seen a air-over-hyd system on a truck. I not doubting you, just curious. Only time I've run into air-over-hyd systems is on construction equipment and trailers.

    Deuce brakes

I have to admit this is kind of a "pet peave" of mine :-D. Most people on here say a deuce has air-over-hyd brakes. Which is wrong and can be misleading. A deuce has air-boosted hyd brakes. It's basicly the same as most other hyd systems other than it uses air pressure instead of vaccume to...

    Price check M35A3

I've seen a few that need a little work go for $4,500 or so.

    M35a3 Engine Color

There is a m35a3 at my place that belongs to monkeyboyarmy. The engine in it is OD.

    M35 truck value

I'd say the truck is worth atleast $2,000 as is. I bought a basket case w/w m35a2 last year for $2,000. Not running, no title, no bed, and the body was shot. It may sound like alot but it was when scrap was high. I sold two axles and other small items, kept the good stuff, and scrapped the...

Hotshot Transportation Co. - looking for loads

You remind me of that Johnny Cash song "I've been everywhere" :-D.

    A3 Recovery Questions

The truck will roll no matter what gear the trans is in. If the CTIS is still hooked up I'd think you'd have to disconnect it at the wheels, install a shrader valve, and use another air source to air up the tires if it won't run. Only other thing I know about them is if the engine has lost...

Higher top speeds and better braking

You all wonder who bids on a bunch of trucks at once. Looks like I know who may be bidding on 100 of them . Beware Arthur, There are those here that think you shouldn't be able to buy that many trucks :-D.

Milling machine pickup from Albany, GA

I'd say to figure on 3,000lbs. May be a little high but those older mills tend to weigh more than the newer ones. I have no idea what the accual lift cap. of a 2 ton engine hoist is. I know sometimes that kind of stuff is over rated.

Is the HMMWV EPA or DOT certified

Are you saying it's easier to import foreign military stuff than it is US stuff that orginated here and you're just bringing it back? I'm not saying you're not right it just seems odd.

Milling machine pickup from Albany, GA

I'm in the machinery moving business and have moved 100s of mills of all sizes. Overhead lifting is the best if you have something to use. I went back and looked at the pics. If I were moving it with the tools you said you had I would take a strap at run it under the head ways right in front...

    Personal Rant....... 5 ton wanted......

If you owned GL and depended on it for you livelyhood would you limit the number of lots someone could buy? I agree it would be great for some people but it would cut into GL's profits. How many people gripe about truck prices and also gripe about government waste? If they don't get all they...

    Personal Rant....... 5 ton wanted......

Dealers can only sell trucks for market value. They may find a sucker every now and then but for the most part if they want to stay in business that have to sell their trucks at or below market value. If you bid aginst a dealer and win you got the truck below market value. Dealers aren't bad...

Milling machine pickup from Albany, GA

I'd try my best to find a tilt trailer. You could take some round bars, jacks, come-a-long, and some big pry bars and get it loaded if you had a way to get it upon the trailer. A word of caution, mills are very top heavy and will fall over if you aren't carefull.

    axle shaft service

Seems like the more I think about it I took a torch and cut the cross out and then removed the caps. I know I've done this before with other joints with no ill effects.

    axle shaft service

Found the invoice but no p/n listed. May check with some of the rockcrawler sites if you don't have any luck with surplus. Thanks to the rockcrawler guys the axles on our trucks have more aftermarket parts made for them than anything else on the truck. I know I tried at the time to find a...

    axle shaft service

I replaced my pass. side u-joint a while back. I think I used my press but I don't remember it giving me any trouble. I got a replacement from offroadfabworks before he flew the coupe. It was a Rockwell joint and $42 I think. The new joint had a grease fitting in the cross but it would be a big...

Is the HMMWV EPA or DOT certified

I don't know how they do it but there is a bunch of construction and farm equipment on the market that doesn't meet EPA regs. It's comming from overseas and isn't supposed to be over here but it's making it here somehow. I had a CAT 963 trackloader that was made in the US but for a overseas...

Probably not new news, but interesting to see the Army Goal of

Let me preface this by saying that I have no "inside information" on the amount of trucks left. I'm just going by what has been posted by people "in the know" and the selling trends on GL. I think the deuces are already starting to slow down. I know TN is about cleaned out of them with only...

    depressed

I've got a friend with a deuce that's built like you. He went to the box seat but I think that only helps with the belly/ steering wheel distance. I'm 6'2" but only weigh 165lbs. I have no trouble with the steering wheel but I could use a little more leg room. The cab doesn't really "fit" me...
