Read all FAQ's, but have new questions

Realm, Where in TN are you located? I'm in Dickson.

Read all FAQ's, but have new questions

He explained it all to me but it was some time ago and I don't remember what all he said. I think he said all you have to do is replace the regulator but don't hold me too it. I do know a alt. produces fairly high AC voltage before it is rectified so I can see it being possable. I'll call him...

Read all FAQ's, but have new questions

As far as the alt. goes, I've got a cousin that owns a starter and alternator shop. He tells me that he can make any Delco alt. 24 volts just by changing some parts inside for the same price as a 12 volt.

    Memphis Equipment Rebuild Question

They used to offer a kit to convert a sprag t-case into a shiftable in/out front end. It was called the REB kit. I don't know what all was involed in the conversion or if that is what you're talking about though. From what I remember from the pics I've seen it added a shifter in the floorboard...

    M35a3's whos got one?

I would like to hear it run but I haven't had a chance to look at it anymore. I haven't told you this yet but if it's going to be too much trouble to get it to Ohio you can just leave it here :-D. I'll even let you keep the haul bill! What a deal!

What's this lever on column do?

That's what old truckers around here call them. I have no idea why. Maybe Johnson was the company that made them or something. I have seen Mack dumptrucks that had them. It applied the truck brakes.

    M35a3's whos got one?

That may be where that 65MPH figure came from, the truck driver.rofl I'm going to tinker with the truck a little more if I get a chance this week. I hope we do get it running because I want a test drive before it heads north .

    steering box leak

No, It's leaking out the shaft onto the outside of the frame. FT, I've thought about the grease thing .

    How many left?

I agree about the false panic but I don't know if it should be banned. It is about MVs and it isn't breaking any laws. I doubt they will bring any back from overseas either. I know we're sending trucks from the States to Iraq for them to keep but who knows about the Government

    How many left?

Yea, I know where GSA trucks come from. That's the problem. While the Military can be hard on stuff the local governments and such seem like they run them till they won't run anymore or are rusted out before they get rid of them on all the trucks around here.

    steering box leak

My steering box has been leaking for some time and I need to break down and fix it. I've done a search, looked at the TM and read the article in MVM issue 116 on steering gear replacement but haven't found a answer to my question. Can you replace the shaft seal without pulling the box? From what...

    M35a3's whos got one?

Monkeyboyarmy has one but he hasn't picked it up yet. It's still at my place. I will say this, I never did really care much for them but after looking his over real good they are starting to grow on me . They do have several upgrades over the A2 that I think are good like dual brakes, PS...

    How many left?

They've got to be getting close to the end. How many have been sold in the last couple of years? I'd say atleast 200 a week on average. That's not counting all the ones that never made it to GL which I'm going to guess at a rate of 3 to 1 or more. GSA has alot of trucks to sell but most of...

    Dump mod using dropside bed?

I've got a M35A2C and a hoist but haven't got around to installing it yet. I think it will work ok with some mods. The outside rail of the bed is made of thicker material on a dropside than it is on a standard cargo bed so that should help support the bed. What I was planning on doing to support...

    Oil from air compressor intake?

How much oil are we talking about here? Is it just wet around the intake or is oil running down the block? If it's just a little wet I wouldn't worry too much. I've never seen a air tank without a little oil in it so how much oily water came out? You could take the line off the compressor and...

visual difference turbo LDT 465-1C and 1-D

I think the "D" being a newer model had some minor changes. Seems like the newer style head gasket came out with the "D" but I could be wrong.

    Oil from air compressor intake?

Ok :-D. The governor is mounted up on the firewall .

visual difference turbo LDT 465-1C and 1-D

This is a common misconception that people have. The "C" or "D" engine number has nothing to do with which turbo it has. A "C" engine can have a "D" turbo and vice-versa. Only way to tell which turbo you have is by what it looks like or how it sounds. I don't have any pics but a "C" turbo...

    Oil from air compressor intake?

You said in your thread title that you had oil comming from your governor. Only way oil can get to the governor is if the compressor is pumping oil. I'd check the tanks for oil.

    deuce frame reinforcement

If I get what you're trying to say " the flanges don't hold any vertical load" I'd have to disagree. For the frame to bend down the bottom flange has to get longer and the top flange has to get shorter. On a "C" channel it's not as much but on a "I" or "H" beam it gives the beam most of it's...
