Thank you for the article but that is way past what I have already done. The injection pump & injector are working as they should.
To rule it out, I have tried 3 other injection pumps & had the same results.
So, I spent a full day yesterday trying to get this thing running again with no luck.
Removed the whole top end & cleaned everything in a parts washer. Lapped the valves. Re-checked everything. No luck!
Disassembled the injector successfully this time. Cleaned the inside of it & tested. All...
After dragging my feet in installing it, I put the Pulsar solar battery maintainer on.
Mounted the panel on the fuel tank because I wanted it to charge even when the cover is on the generator.
Did the best I could to cleanly route the wires in safe areas.
Panel is making 32v in full sun...
Well, rebuilding the brakes on the right side wasn't fun! Finally got to it. There were a bunch of videos already on YouTube on replacing & repairing sure brakes since Dexter has a lot of them on boat trailers.
There are some differences though & I did make a quick video talking about them;
So, I got a renewed motivation to get this thing to run again.
Checked everything again. Then once more. Removed the head & everything looks good in there as well.
No way to pressure test but in the last week of reading things on people repairing these Yanmar L-series engines & the 186 type...
Yanmar sells worldwide & it needs to meet every legal requirment for the warnings. Pshh, if you sell in California you need all kinds of extra warnings. I can't imagine all the ones required in all the European countries!
There is nothing I can find as far as a Technical Manual for the L100V, military or civilian. I searched everything high & low. The V series are different than the AE series so you can't use those as I have them for other military generator sets & equipment. The biggest difference is in the...
That issue you described is extremely common in gasoline small engines. It's the ethanol added to modern gasoline at the pump.
A diesel engine doesn't ignite with a head source. It it pure combustion via compression. Everything is mechanical unlike with gasoline. A lot of the L- Series engines...
I have not checked fuel pressure. I'm not even sure what the pressure is supposed to be on these engines but I know it's high. Spark definitely isn't an issue because it's a diesel. I could do a compression test but am not sure how to do that on these. Generally, I just use the pull start & if...
I completly rinsed & cleaned the fuel tank. All new fittings, lines, & fuel filter. Cleaned the injection pump. Tried a new injection pump. Tested injector. Purged all the air. Fuel is fresh & clean. The only other thing I can think to try is a new injector but I don't want to toss more money at it.
Howdy,
I stumbled upon a few of these for sale. Thinking that it may be a good option to get hot water out at my off grid place.
I use my MEP-802A as a power source so I would have 28 volt power source along with plenty of diesel.
Just wanted to see if anyone here has hands on use...
Decided to re-pack the bearings & investigate that grinding noise. Right side brake shoes came apart! Going to get parts & finish up when I have them.
Left side was all good to go. Completely repacked & brakes adjusted nicely. Seals were good.
I'm documenting everything on video to add to my...
So, I found some of the padding that is used as a sound damper in the dumpster while at work. It was in all kinds of strange cuts, but I took what I could from it & placed it around the generator. Not sure if it will make a difference at all, but it won't hurt anything. Made a small holder for...
Howdy,
There are a few pieces of military equipment that run on the Yanmar L100V engine. I'm working on one of these engines & am having a hell of a time figuring out my problem.
I have an engine with a fuel cut of solenoid on the injection pump. I've confirmed fuel is getting from the tank &...
My past weekend trip with the trailer, I noticed a grinding noise when coasting & more so when slowing down. Thinking it may be worn brakes or sand got in there. Will need to dig in once I get some time. Also, I need to repack the wheel bearings.
Also made some brackets for the fuel tank. I...
Well, after having it listed for a while, this unit sold. Off to a good home on a private island. Wish I could say the same for myself.
Onto the next project...
Generator has been sold! Had someone who came to look at another unit I had for sale & he said it was to supplement his 24 volt solar system. Told him I had this & he took both of them.
I did figure out how to keep the chinging noise from the aftermarket pull start. Pull it about an inch back...
