If the tires on the front before, are still on the front after that much abnormal wear, swap them to the back. Prob won't fix it, but eliminates a variable.
Heat in one corner that's not at the other corner could be your "smoking gun". A hanging brake will cause some serious white knuckling...
So, then you just paint it again. Personally I have lots better things to do with my time, but would be cool to see it done by someone else. Not my style, but cool none-the-less. I like the A-10 style hood idea

Need to adjust the throttle / tranny interface to get the shift...

Is it a known truck or an auction truck? If its a private sale and you are confident, do it, I've driven mine all over the country as have others. If its an auction / unknown truck then no. You won'y get any deals on hauling INTO Florida, but I'll bet a lot of back hauls going the other way...
That will probably need to be covered under collision. Do you have that coverage? Deductible? Just replace it. Takes less than a hour and they are pretty easy to find. I picked up a spare complete tailgate in perfect condition with glass for 75 bucks last year.
I have just the box I might sell. It's ok but not pristine. Missing one of the steps and a small dent in the bottom of the door. Pm me if you are interested.
