I purchased some Hard Neoprene Rubber #8629K39 from McMaster Carr and machined it back in November with over a 1,000 miles and holding up great.
The larger bushing I purchased the part listed in the drawing and machined it to fit, which I would not recommend! In the future I would just start...
I'm not using the stock condenser though. I'm using one from the humvee kit that is 17"x32"x2.5" and has 4 layers of tubes. With both fans running continuously while the AC is on. Also they are pulling the air through the coils. Mounted behind the cab. Here's a link to more pictures of my AC...
I don't think that could be my issue, my reasoning is based on the fact that it can start it early in the morning with a cold engine and cab and it will quickly get to 60 degrees and will stay at that temp even while the the engine is cold the thermostat is closed when the engine is at proper...
I know very little of AC systems. But what makes the difference between my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee AC blowing 40 degrees parked right next to my LMTV with a new AC and a condenser at least twice the size, blowing 65 degrees? Both of them in the Florida sun at 90 degrees and 82% humidity. I've...
I used 134a and the coldest it will get is 50 degrees measured at the air vent, which was a little disappointing as I was expecting 40 degrees with such a large condenser.
Truck-lite makes them for the military. If you look at truck-lite web site and go to the military lights section you'll find them. I like them because of the black reflectors.
Using the civilian Truck-lite LED Headlight. It also allows for any other civilian headlight to work.
Modified an H-4 harness by soldering some military connectors onto it.
First heat the connector and fill with solder.
Then while the solder is still fluid insert stripped wire into connector...
The Serial Number is hiding behind the transmission hoses/lines and very difficult to read because you can't move the lines out of the way. How I did it was position a flash light shinning in that area then using the camera on my phone took several pictures of it from above the hoses/lines and...
Thats the name that slipped my mind! Steyr thanks for reminding me. Using Steyr 12M18 in a search yields good results also.
I also like my M1078A1 all the luxuries can be added.
No hot wires. As far as the fuse goes simply put amps are amps. The fuse doesn't blow because of what voltage it is it blows when it exceeds the amps rating on the fuse.
Also the 12 volt is strictly for the panel lights in the AC unit and is fused somewhere else before it gets to th AC unit...
Check this out.Abenteuer & Allrad 2016 The World’s biggest Off-Road ShowDo a search and go to the site then the gallery for a lot of pictures of a european show with a lot of overlander RVs using the same cab as the FMTV.
What I did. With the cab stuck in the up position.
Using the manual pump.
Switch in up mode, pump until pressure built up. No movement in the cab position.
Switch to down mode, pump until pressure built up. No movement in the cab position.
Repeat and repeat and repeat until I was red face with...
FYI when I wired the additional power source for the condenser during my install FMTV Air Conditioner Hybrid Completed Installation I used a 15 AMP fuse, based on the 15 AMP breaker on the side of the AC unit. One breaker is for the blower motor and the other is for the condenser fans and for...
I have a 1078A1 that the cab got stuck in the up position as well and tried similar things as you have Note: this happened after I rebuilt the pump. If I recall I read somewhere that the cylinder has a lock valve that comes into play when the cylinder is extended or retracted in a quick manner...
Someone asked on a different thread how much the bed weighs. To make it easier for people to find in the future I started a new thread on the subject.
M1078A1 weighs 14,240 lbs without the bed (and everything thats attached to the bed) and without the 2 front lift arms/rings.
Bed weighs 2,360...
Anyone near Wauchula, Fl with a M1078 A0 / 3116 engine that would like to do this type of AC installation and has the main components? I would be willing to prototype and build the kit and only charge you for what it cost me to make the parts. I would also HELP install it for free. Although, you...
