    Spitter valve

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?154619-Air-Dryer New air dryer did not fix my problem but needed to be replaced anyhow. Please read the highlighted thread to figure out my attempts to fix the problem and proceed as you feel necessary. I do recommend Suprman as you can get an...

Air Loss Question- Is This The Culprit?

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?154619-Air-Dryer Read this thread to learn what I have learned concerning this problem first hand. Many replace the air dryer or clean the expello valve and that fixes the problem. I replaced the air dryer, the governor, and still could not build...

Can I use winch and drivetrain at same time

Questioned answered but no you cannot use the PTO and the drivetrain at the same time. If the PTO is engaged and you move the shifter, you will hear a loud bang and it will cut off. Learned this first hand with a M936A2. The newer FMTV wreckers will not go into gear if the PTO is engaged, you...

    Air Dryer

I tried to call SwampDonkey to thank him and tell him he needs to find better friends!!! I only have trucks that get one of a kind problems that are difficult to track down. New air dryer installed, problem still there. New governor installed, problem still there. What was the problem, the...

    Oshkosh MK14

I have pulled them with the Deuce in the past, I am sure the M923 would be more than happy with the task. Airlines and trailer lights hook up the same and it tows slightly nose down. The Deuce had 11R20s at the time. In the attached pictures, you will see a Deuce hauling an MK-18 trailer...

What kind of life can you get out of a 923 with a NHC250?

My A0 does not lock the TC until it gets into 2nd and it is an ABS truck. Apart from installing A1 tires and turning the fuel up, it is stock. Both have the same transmission but different torque converters to mate up to the ¨Medium Duty Engine¨ in the A2 trucks!!! I would not kick an M939A2...

M939 No air pressure build up

If you are considering a rebuild kit, might as well just purchase a brand new one. Member Suprman has some that fit just fine and depending on shipping costs, might be cheaper than the $150 price of the rebuild kit. I have one on my cargo truck now and it works great.

What kind of life can you get out of a 923 with a NHC250?

I like the A1 and certainly this already has the fringes of a Ford vs. Chevy tone. I like Chevy if it of any importance but have experience with both. Picture of the M936A2 is fuzzy but it was an 8.3 powered truck and I got if for a good price. It could barely do 50 mph by itself and if it...

What kind of life can you get out of a 923 with a NHC250?

Now that we are back on topic, I prefer the old school NHC250 over the 8.3 powered trucks. Both are great engines and with regular maintenance should last about as long as we live. I like the instant throttle response off the line when pulling a load. I operated a M936A2 until the M1089...

    Air Dryer

Installed new dryer today and exact same issue as before. Next stop, air governor. I somewhat got upset thinking I had thrown good money out the window for nothing but I thought better of it. I tried to replace the filter on the old one a few months ago and guess what? It is welded on with...

What kind of life can you get out of a 923 with a NHC250?

We have strayed from the topic slightly but I will offer this input. I lock the steering wheels on the M35 series trucks as they tend to turn the other way at low speeds. On 5 tons, this is not necessary as they have enough caster built into the axle perches to avoid doing that. I have had...

    M818 Alternator question

Originally the truck would be set up for a 24 volt alternator putting out around 28 volts and 60 amps on a test stand.

    M818 Alternator question

Starter motor will tell the OP as well as the battery wiring. In series would indicate 24V, parallel would indicate 12V. Many of the M818 trucks went on the market years ago and have been through some changes. I say if it is putting out 140 amps at 14V, the truck probably does not have...

    Air Dryer

My new dryer will be here tomorrow thanks to member Suprman. Huge Kudos to him, he shipped it before payment was even sent. Perks of being a good boy on here I suppose and always doing right to others! I will install one of the newer variants that hooks up the same way. Since I knew I would...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

I have never noticed pinion shaft play on my Deuce while I had it. It is a very basic axle design if you research top loader axles. I would tear it down and replace the input bearing and seal if I could move it that far in any direction. It can probably roll many miles as is without issue but...

    Air Dryer

I know I will get flamed for posting this but if your air dryer lets you down on your M939 series truck, you are done!!! I drove my M923 a few days ago without issue, tonight, it will not build air. I started it up, heard the compressor doing its job and boom, expello valve blew off like...

    M35 vs M813???

All jokes aside, I have experience as well with all 3 models discussed. My Deuce had a normally functioning brake system and took alot of pedal effort to lock the rears on my dirt road. It could not lock them on pavement without coming up out of the seat due the the pressure put on the pedal...

Tampa FL to SW GA small item transport.

I made it down to Tampa in my Trans Am. I can haul something small across the Georgia line. In less than a month, I make the same trip but in a Tahoe. If you have any needs, I would be happy to help. If you have a large need, I can bring my M923 5 tont on the next trip. Any item taken will...

    6.2 banks turbo kit

My experience with turboing a 6.2 is somewhat limited as I have never attempted it. Member Stonepicker gave me a ride in his M1028A2 dually some years ago at the GAMVR and that truck could spin tires on pavement. When we got on the dirt road, it almost slithered around as bad as my Trans Am...
