I've gotten 2 more votes so far today. I really need about 10 more but Thank You Mr. Kent and Mr. Lloyd!! I need the SE US Mafia to take the time to vote in another hometown GA Rally Hero!!! As always, plenty of Natty's in my cooler for everyone either way at the GA MVR this year but if I...
He's trying to drill out the "tamper proof plug" on the side of his PT injection pump throttle shaft. Behind that plug is one of the fuel adjustments available to NHC 250 power truck owners. The other things that I'd read help include using different "buttons" and a dual fuel line mod.
I started with a much smaller drill bit and went slowly. I felt a bump when the bit first bumped through and hit the head of the screw. You've got to be getting close.
Bumped the fuel on mine slightly with the screw in throttle shaft and put about 40 gallons of filtered waste ATF. Truck seems to like the changes so far. Now it feels like it wants another gear when cruising at 55 mph and doesn't slow at all in the hills. Now to add a new either solenoid as...
The truck in the incident I described was pulling a trailer but common practice with the M105's and M149's is to leave the trailer air hoses disconnected and let the prime mover handle braking chores. That was how it was done for this particular incident as well. I've always wanted to test the...
An extra reason to vote for the 5 ton. It can easily hold about 20 of those Indian Motorcycles in the bed. The bike in the lead has lived around the world but has it ever been assigned to 4th RTB? That's the Ranger Training Battalion and that's where General Non-Sense cut his teeth and spent...
I'm glad you posted that video of a Deuce C turbo on a CUCV. Gives me hope I may hear that familiar whistle again someday as I still have one of those!
Rustystud,
I'll have to disagree with you slightly on "Maxican" parking brakes. A few years ago on the way to Ft. Stewart, a Soldier somehow thought it would be a good idea to set the parking brake on an M1078 LMTV going 55 mph. down the road. It immediately locked the rear axle and nearly...
One other reason to vote for my truck. If you notice, Papabear and Wreckerman893 both voted for it and they never agree on anything. It's just that nice a truck!!!
Note to all, include pictures of your kids with your trucks!! Sure seems to be helping my chances as there are some very nice vehicles in the running this month. If that's what it takes to get the votes, please enjoy!!! My kids will likely grow into owning some of this stuff. At least I can...
Martin,
Your description is perfectly correct when describing the sprag transfer case found in the M39 and M809 series trucks. The original poster has an M939 series truck which does have a transfer that operates similarly to a deuce, direct engagement when air pressure is applied.
R/S,
Joseph
Most people on here call them "dogbones". They are an item that should be inspected for cracking of the rubber on a regular basis. It is somewhat uncommon to hear of issues of them on a 5 ton but you can find issues with them fairly regularly in the Deuce forum. Same basic suspension design...
I want to come but some unforeseen circumstances have sidelined my trip. I'll party with my Florida Friends in October at Durhamtown!! I really hate that I'm not able to make it. It's a scheduling issue that came up last minute and I've got to place the family that lives on these few acres...
Basically same truck and trailer, lunette ring flipped down. Trailer was slightly nose down on a bone stock M1028 but not that bad. I'll have to recreate the scene in daylight for a better view.
Thanks to member Al Harvey, I purchased a set of uprights at the GA Rally this past year. I finally saved up enough for a cover. Now I just need to touch up paint slightly and get some rubber bungee straps to hold the rear outriggers in the stowed position. Getting there slowly but surely!
Now that I'm home from training with the National Guard, it's time to Campaign. I've only had this truck since October but it's what I really wanted for quite some time. It made it's first 180 mile trip to the GA Military Vehicle Rally this last go around days after I brought it home. It then...
I've run into this problem on my A0. I sprayed some PB Blaster into the line that goes into the governor. I had to pull the compressor head off and clean all of the carbon out that I had loosened and was causing everything to not seat.
I'm sure it can be made to whistle. Best bet sound wise would be to find a Deuce with a C Turbo and install a muffler. It silences the bark but none of the whine and it's one of the things I miss about owning a Deuce.
