M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

Might I add a little bit to this discussion about battery cable size, bigger is almost always better I am putting battery cables from 5 tons in my 1010 and have used bigger cables on most every automobile I have had for the last 20 years. For 12v to do the same work as 24v you need twice the...

Preference of Dialight vs Grote Front LED Signals

There are Truck lite versions as well, I personally like the Truck lite, then Dialight, then the Grote but it is on looks alone never had a problem with one of them.

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

Jpg I think it is funny I was thinking about this before I looked at SS this morning. I think your upper voltage is spot on at 28.7 unless I missed something. Now on the lower voltage there might be some interference from the 24v alt with the 12v alt you might want to remove the 24v alt belt...

Amsteel blue synthetic rope on 5 ton front winch

I would keep a cover on my winch if I used the synthetic rope so that would probably stop the block of ice problem. Our 2 and 1/2 ton and 5 ton trucks came with PTO or hydraulic winches so no need for the high temperature rope. The last I checked I could do a 100' 1/2" for around $300.00 this...

    Nebulous, M1009

If you can weld a 3/4 nut or just a big one on top of the stripped torx head bolt and while it is hot try to remove might want to soak the nut under the truck for a day or two.

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

Also I have a Lincoln cracker jack, a Miller 220v mig, and a Miller Bobcat gasoline powered welders and will grab my ready-welder 60% of the time to do most welding jobs. Now back to the young ladies 1010, jpg are you going to add a Ready-welder to her truck?

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

If you put them side by side it becomes a no brainer the little box machines are good for thin body parts but the ready-welder can weld up 1/2 no problem. Also you would need a generator to run one away from home and they would take up much more room, I believe dollar for dollar you can't get...

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

The ready-welder is a battery powered spool gun that will run off of car batteries setup between 12-48 volts and can also be used as a spool gun on most big DC welders. It will weld a longer continuous bead than you can run it has a 100% duty cycle, meaning that it doesn't get hot and have to...

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

Yeah a lot of guys think I am nuts when I tell them it can out weld a big gas driven machine but it will as long as you have a set of good hot batteries and they last longer than you will at one setup.

    Greasing the short drive line

here's a picture of a grease gun needle they are available in different lengths and is the easiest way I know to get grease in, but I have been able to get a standard nipple on my 936 and 816 a few times, sometimes I think you just need to hold your tongue just right to make it work!

Air accessories for an M939 series 5 ton?

A little shot of Silicon spray will help with getting them on and off and I would recommend getting the colored urethane gladhand seals for the truck side so you don't have to paint them on the truck and I like the the seals with the center split covers for the accessories to keep dirt and bugs...
