Something doesn't add up here. You say you reached 62 MPH yet the Tachometer reads only 2000 RPM ? Do you have an "Overdrive Kit" installed ? I'm at 2400 RPM and only going 55 MPH in my Deuce ( or there about ) .
I'm not trying to "bust your chops" but I am curious.
I agree with "Big Tom" here about the axle shafts. When adjusting the brakes leave the axle shafts out. That way you will get a much more accurate feel for brake shoe drag.
It should give you years of good service. The problem though is that in Snow you might get some binding, or jarring engagements. The over-running sprag doesn't engage until the unit experiences an over running of the rear axles compared to the front driveline. Since wheel spin happens pretty...
If you add two fuel gauges, one before the filter and one after you can tell when to change out the filter. According to manufactures specs if you have more then a 3 PSI differential it is time to replace the filter. That is what I did with mine. Now at a glance I can tell when it is time to...
CUCVRUS, you said this has a DuraMax engine. I wonder if it is higher HP and torque then mine ? Does that mean I can upgrade my power too ? Also does it also have an Allison transmission ?
OK now you've gone and done it CUCVRUS !!! I want this truck !!!
So that means I must trade-in my new 3500 ! I wonder if I can get the wife on board on this deal ?
Well I found out why my MEP-501 was being such a little ass all the time I owned it. There was some loose wires from the engine side in the electrical panel. I just "assumed" it was a fuel problem all along. Turns out the crimps where not holding and the wires where coming out, even though they...
That's good to know as the smaller size "isolator" is becoming hard to find now. They make tons of the 2" and 4" wide ones, but the narrower 1.25" and 1.5" ones not so much anymore. Think I will be visiting my local Ford parts dealer this week.
Thanks Marcus.
After four major back surgeries and then a L-4, L5 spinal fusion I cannot sit for very long anymore without dealing with considerable pain. The new Chevy has a much more comfortable seat then the old 84 has, plus it is so much more adjustable ! So for long distance driving the new Chevy is the...
Well I finally got tired of my MEP-501 and decided to convert it to 240 Volts AC, (2KW) . Making it a MEP-531 basically.
I also changed out the fuel system. I don't know about all you guys out there running the small Yanmar engines, but every time I replace the fuel filter it is a pain in the...
I have duel plastic fuel tanks in my 1984 CUCV. The original metal one was rusted out. So installed dual tanks. That was over a decade ago. Cannot remember where I bought them though. I also use Semi-Truck fuel tank strap isolators. They are rubber with a channel in them to hold them in place...
The only way I know of to keep them clear is to keep the cab warm with a heater. I keep a heater in mine all year long. When the temperature goes below 50 F the heater comes on. It keeps the inside of my cab nice and moisture free including all the gauges.
