Sir, your truck was a Marine Corps truck as evidenced by the Registration number. I don't have access to the info. For what it's worth, my M1028FF truck is a Marine Corps truck with a USMC number of 534275 and it's a 1985 model. No bumper numbers on these, just door markings and tailgate...

If the compressor is cycling, you have a bad air governor. The item you're trying to adjust on the firewall. I've found good ones new for under 20 bucks. It's a common part and will hopefully get your truck back where it needs to be!!!
Well, I now know why the A2's are selling so low. I was thinking of getting one for those low prices but it seems like a ton of hassle. I guess I could buy one and have it hauled home and wait for this to "get fixed". I'd love to help ya'll's situation as well. Ya'll are both older than me...
DH,
I've towed plenty of "straight air" trailers such as those that may be found behind and MK-48 with caged brakes. When they are caged, they will not apply. I always did a quick stop before pulling off the lot. If the trailer felt like it was "heavy" during that brake check, I'd go look...
M35-Tom,
I may have a slower method to diagnosing something but with my experience with these trucks, I think I found the root cause a tad quicker. I will admit that your way would have been much simpler though and I had actually never thought of checking it that way. After reading the OP's...
Does LA even issue a title with an SF-97? Perhaps my local tag office in GA doesn't know everything but they won't do it but even with an SF-97, I can't get a title on anything older than 1986 or so. I do have one option, I could "sale" my trucks to someone in FL and have them sell it back to...
Iggy,
If you "Cage" the brakes, you take them out of the equation. They will not apply once caged and hooked to another truck. That's acceptable for a short and slow haul but it should not be standard practice if doing a recovery that involves going into heavily traveled or populated areas...
Well Tim, that pic looks better than if he would have posted a picture of me standing at the front of the truck!!!! You've seen both, your choice and I'll relay the answer to PB. I don't really care for the tattoo's either and my wife has none. Tattoo's on other girls don't bother me as I'm...
After reading this, I really hate that Annual Training will span 7 to 29 September this year. I would love an opportunity to drive "Proud American" again. I'm going to talk to Atomic and see if he can substitute drive something and enjoy the camaraderie that takes place at any event that CAMO...
loose flywheel is a possibility. To check for it is a little bit of work. First, remove the bench seat and the center tunnel sheet metal in the cab. Remove the jackshaft between the trans and transfer, undo the bolts holding the trans to the motor, get a 4X4 board and rig it so that you can...
I'm looking forward to it. I'm not sure what I'm wearing this year though. I took the Deuce last year so it should be Sarge's year to shine (The NOS USMC M1028). I'll wait to hear from PB as to whether he needs a driver and has trailer space. Sarge has been to the Rally before but he's...
Awesome writeup. I came in this thread thinking I would answer a question as many Deuce owners don't realize that even airshift transfer trucks still have that rod coming out of the back of the transmission that used to switch the sprag from forward to reverse!!!
Dave,
Please PM me an address, I'll get one shipped your way on Friday. It won't have the chain or attaching hardware as they re used those pieces when they replace the cap.
Joseph
I can't bring it to you but I can get the one in Albany off the base to a safe spot if needed. I know that truck is sitting on an aired down 14R20 but I would do it at a very low speed of say 20 mph for 15 miles. I charge $150 for such a recovery if you're interested. I also handle the...
Sir,
I was actually trying to give a thumbs up to how good I think Hawker 6TAGM's are. If you'd read again, I've left stuff on and killed them a few times. Lucky for me, they are not your typical lead acid with vents but rather an Absorbed Glass Mat battery that does not seem to suffer the...
The pictures are amazing!!! I really hate that I couldn't go along for the ride. I read TinWoodmans thread and I knew it would be an adventure getting "Proud American" up there as she seems to love throwing a wrench into a fan most of the time. I also knew you had Tony and Troy right there...
